Full Screen mode caps G-Sync monitor (240Hz) at half refresh rate (120Hz)

Product: Apex Legends
Platform:PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
AMD or Nvidia Model Number RTX 3080
Enter RAM memory size in GB 16
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? TheDooflin (or ID: 29678877)
Please provide your squad mates' gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name if possible.
Are you using any software with an overlay? Yes
If yes, can you list them here? Steam
If you disable this software, does that have any effect? No
Which Legend were you playing (if applicable)?
Which Legends were your squad mates using (if applicable)?
Where did the issue occur? In a match
Which part of the map or menu were you in? If you don't remember the exact name, please describe the area or what you were trying to do in the menu. N/A
What were you doing when the issue occurred? E.g. respawning a squad mate at a beacon, using an ability, a squad mate left the game. N/A
Did your squad mates also experience the issue? I don't know
How many matches had you played in a row before the issue occurred? 0
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm)
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
How severe is your issue? Minor impact to gameplay
What happens when the bug occurs? Full Screen mode caps G-Sync monitor (240Hz capable) at half refresh rate (120Hz).
What should be happening instead? Full Screen mode should respect the monitor's native refresh rate.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Try running Apex Legends on a high refresh rate G-Sync display, select Full Screen mode as well as various NVIDIA Reflex options and note the monitor refresh rate.

I am specifically using an Asus PG279QM, if you happen to have access to this display for testing.

    @TheDooflin

Check your NVIDIA control panel settings, you may be running with 'half rate adaptive sync', thanks.

  • @EA_BarryThere is no such option in my NVIDIA control panel. I have NVIDIA driver version 496.13

I decided to try forcing Vertical Sync off in NVIDIA control panel but still no difference, always 120Hz in full screen mode. Note that I am getting FPS in excess of 120fps (200+) according to the in-game FPS counter.

  • Have U fixed it? The only solution I got is to make it borderrless window
