Game stuttering in the middle of fights?

Product: Apex Legends
Platform:Sony Playstation 4
Please specify your platform model. Sony PlayStation 4 Slim
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? BenignDirector
Please provide your squad mates' gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name if possible. N/A
Are you using any software with an overlay? No
Which Legend were you playing (if applicable)? N/A
Which Legends were your squad mates using (if applicable)? N/A
Where did the issue occur? In a match
Which part of the map or menu were you in? If you don't remember the exact name, please describe the area or what you were trying to do in the menu. N/A
What were you doing when the issue occurred? E.g. respawning a squad mate at a beacon, using an ability, a squad mate left the game. In a fight in BR / winter express
Did your squad mates also experience the issue? I don't know
How many matches had you played in a row before the issue occurred? A couple
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 12/8/2021
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
How severe is your issue? Major impacts to gameplay
What happens when the bug occurs? I'm on PS4 and having issues with stuttering. My internet is fine and I get no little red symbols to let me know there's server issues. But I will be in the middle of a fight and the person I'm fighting will be in one place one second and a completely different place another, like I'm blinking and missing their movement, but it's the game. It causes me to miss shots and the lag of that one second allows me to be suddenly downed without seeing anything happen.
What should be happening instead? The game should run smoothly... without dropping frames...
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Play a match?

I've seen a few other people mention 'console stuttering' but I've never had it happen to me.

  • This continues to happen. My enemies just bounce around from second to second. It's not my internet.

@BenignDirector first things first - shutter and lag and enemy model display are usually 3 different yet maybe related issues.

If you are experiencing shutters - like the game jams, freezes and then resumes kind of in faster phase that usually (at least on PC) is CPU issue.

If you see people lagging, there might be a place to discuss probability of them hacking or more precisely using lag-switching, very common for decades tactics in FPS shooters. Or their, your internet after all is just bad.

Finally smoothness of the game, display - indeed I have noticed that Apex is not top dawg in this area, sometimes tracking is very hard just because you can't trust your eyes. More on that https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legends/news/servers-netcode-developer-deep-dive?isLocalized=true
Here you can just need to accept that this is how Apex works and how developers choose this game to run.
  • As my post states, I'm playing on PS4. So it's not a PC CPU issue.

The game itself isn't stuttering, my movement and play is smooth, it's the enemies. They will freeze in place and then be in another place the next second. It's something server side that is not catching up with their movements.

Everyone in my games isn't cheating - we're on console, cheating is incredibly rare except with strike packs. And a frequent number of people I encounter? Not likely. It could be THEIR internet, but again I find it unlikely it's so many people.

This isn't how the game works and how it runs - I've played for over a year and didn't have this issue until this collection event patch, home slice.

@BenignDirector yeah I noticed the PS4 part, just mentioned PC FYI, plus PS4 also has CPU, after all, = Apex imperfection in-game processing might still affect both PC and console players.

Also happy to hear that you do not encounter hackers, full of them in PC diamond lobbies especially given the current situation with Easy-cheat and its (lack) of performance.

Other than that I have been playing a game on PC with the same settings for 2 seasons now and also on EU and NA servers - only issues similar to what you described I encounter rarely (after solving CPU issue on PC, also uncapping FPS lock) and I assume in most cases that is probably lag-switch given players are highly ranked and they would not be able to do that with bad internet.
