Has your friend checked their account privacy settings to make sure they have cross-play and invites enabled?
I am having the same issue!
Privacy settings is configured
Delete Cache - Done
Go to offline mode - Done
Go to invisible mode - Done
Reinstall Origin - Done
Run as Administrator - Done
Can someone please help me out on this. On my 1st Orgin account I can add friends with no problem at all.

Just to confirm, your other Origin account isn't set to a child account is it?
I have this issue. I used to be able to play with my son. Now it shows him offline and I can't play with him without a 3rd person to invite both of us. I set our accounts up so we could play together .
