Ok so here's the most ideal answer from what I understand thus far. Steam has their own microtransaction system, steam cash. Steam cash works for every game on steam, but if the game hasn't establish a connection between their game and the steam transaction, no purchases would be avaible. APEX is a very very very new game on steam, it wouldn't be weird that they haven't establish a transaction system with steam. Alongside this steam would tax any transaction for games in the steam platform. So if EA hasn't reach an agreement with steam regarding their taxes or what not, transactions would definitely still be unavaible. I hope this helps.
Huh, I have no access to any real money transactions though, I think you're mistaking it for Origin. Cuz no DLC or even Apex Coins are currently purchaseable from Apex on steam. Like the pathfinder, blodhound, lifeline, and octane DLCs aren't purchaseable, everything that requires real money on Apex steam are unavaible.
My statement goes within in-game transaction. Not outside DLC, as you can see some of the DLC are avaible on the store page of the game. The ones on the store page are considered to be buying a game of sort. Its not a micro transaction since you're practically buying a game, but apex coins on the other hand are micro transactions. My guess since the current apex coins is only purchaseable by 2 method, buy a redeem code, or buy from EA clients from origins. Micro transaction is assumed to have different purchase methods, the game devs have to sort in another method if they want to include micro-transactions from within the game. You can see this happen to when fortnite got into a fought with apple and google regarding their in-game purchases. Fortnite was avaible in the app store, and they did allow v-buck purchases from apple, but the revenue from selling v-bucks through another platform would cause them taxes and less revenue, maybe EA and steam hasn't reach an agreement of how much cuts they will get from the in-game transaction. I can't confirm this, but I think that steam taxes devs more from in-game transactions than from store purchases thus making apex only selling their DLC in the steam store rather than in game for more revenue. Or back to my original answer, they just haven't develop a system for in-game transactions on steam yet since apex in game transactions are partnered with paypal and credit cards originally, while steam only allows in game transactions in their platform with steam cash.
@cx0c59 you can't buy the DLC from the in-game store page, but you can buy them from the apex store page on steam. This thread is more to why the guy can't buy anything from in-game.
