Lagging...in Rhythm?

Product: Apex Legends
Platform:Sony Playstation 4
Please specify your platform model. Sony PlayStation 4 Slim
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? Greegon
Please provide your squad mates' gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name if possible.
Which Legend were you playing (if applicable)?
Which Legends were your squad mates using (if applicable)?
Where did the issue occur? In a match
Which part of the map or menu were you in? If you don't remember the exact name, please describe the area or what you were trying to do in the menu. Happened from the character select screen all the way into the game and didn't stop until I restarted Apex Legends.
What were you doing when the issue occurred? E.g. respawning a squad mate at a beacon, using an ability, a squad mate left the game. Loading into a game.
Did your squad mates also experience the issue? No
How many matches had you played in a row before the issue occurred? 2
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 19.02.19 12:50 CST
How often does the bug occur? Occasionally (10% - 49%)
How severe is your issue? Major impacts to gameplay
What happens when the bug occurs? Every other second, the game lags. The lag happens each second in perfect rhythm and will continue until you close and restart Apex Legends.
What should be happening instead? The game shouldn't be lagging in rhythm
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? It happened to me once when I took a screenshot, shared it on Twitter, then returned to the game without closing or suspending the application. However, it has also happened when I'm playing the game with no interruptions, so I'm not sure if that's a trigger or not.

I can confirm that my internet connection is good, so that is not the problem.

  • This may or may not help, but I have a PC and when my GPU gets too hot, it does something called "Thermal Throttling" - it will reduce it's load so that it doesn't overheat and break itself, and it will do that in a rhythm as the GPU consistently gets too hot, this turns into a consistent, rhythmic slowdown of what i'm doing at the time. It's very irritating. At that point, I need to change my settings so that it doesn't have to work so hard.

I realize you're on a PlayStation, but they have a GPU and it might do the same thing. Check that the PS4 isn't in an enclosed space and that it has enough ventilation. Make sure it's not on carpet, and not covered by anything.

Not saying that it's definitely what it is, but worth a shot until EA get back to you.
