Thanks again for all the detail provided. 

There was a similar issue in the past, and once the fix rolled out the progress made was retroactively granted, and i believe that to be the case here too.

So even if this is blocked for you, please play the event as normal.

URGENT UPDATE

Just looked at my badge for the event and it seems to still be counting although not appearing on the in game (map)weekly tracker and also not unlocking the rewards, everyone else check their badges.
