PS5 Apex Performance - Poor

Howdy

First of all I'm not a techy at all so dum * terminology only please 😉

After day 1 or 2 of play Apex Legends on my PS5 couldn't be more pleased, amazing 60 fps solid and the game feels so much smoother and renders crystal clear.

Day 3 - 5 a little frustrated! And I will give as much info as possible to hopefully get some advice.

Still getting solid 60 fps.

Loss in game indicated by Apex monitor is now fluctuating between 0-4. Previously solid 0.

I am getting jitter and some would say mild lag almost every game, as smooth as the PS5 is this is now really noticeable and seems to impact my movement as well as visually the movment of other players.

I am connected to the Internet using WiFi from a Sky Q hub. Its not close enough for a LAN cable hence WiFi.

Internet via WiFi is knocking out 50-60mbps download and 15-20mbps upload as tested using the PS5, very consistently.

And I play 100% of the time whilst chatting in a Playstion party with another PS5 player who doesn't have this issue and a PS4 player who also doesn't have this issue.

So the advice I need is three fold:
- Why may this have started?
- What simple steps can I follow to check whats causing it?
- What would a techy person be doing to resolve this?

Frustrating stuff when I know from day 1 and 2 how smooth and flawless the game runs on the PS5, and given I have changed nothing, now to be faced with 3 days solid of this poor performance.

From an old knacker to any technical whizz who can help, please assist me 😆 before I lose my mind!

A side note, there are more and more reddit posts appearing regarding this but it doesn't seem to be impacting everyone.

Thanks in advance.

  • @Admox86 Hey I might have a trick. In your playstation go to "settings" then "saved Data and game app settings" scroll down to "game presets" "performance mode or resolution mode click it and put it on performance mode.

@Strikegunner Yes I have solved it, basically moved from WiFi to Lan connection. I am not wired directly into my router, in afact I have connected to the SKYQ TV box next to my Ps5, the TV box is connected to my router via WiFi, but the stability and speeds are around 40% higher. My conclusion, the WiFi on the Ps5 is either rubbish or really doesn't like SKYQ networks.

I'm running at 60 fps solid and albeit maybe 1 game a day, zero loss or lag.

    Good luck
