Random Melee when I go to fire my gun.

What were you doing when the issue occurred? E.g. respawning a squad mate at a beacon, using an ability, a squad mate left the game. Trying to fire at someone, sometimes after using an ability or swapping guns.
Did your squad mates also experience the issue? I don't know
How many matches had you played in a row before the issue occurred? Not sure, happens infrequently.

What happens when the bug occurs? When I go to fire my gun, sometimes I will just randomly melee like I don't have a gun out or hit the melee button, even though I have my gun out with ammo in it and hit the trigger to fire. It happens randomly in the worst times, like it high combat areas, running into another player out in the open, inside buildings, and after using an ability (like the last time, it was after I used Octane's speed boost and went to fire at a Bloodhound that was in front of me). Very disruptive because it waste time with the melee animation when I should be firing...
What should be happening instead? My gun should be firing bullets instead of my Champion randomly punching the air.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Find out if this is an actual issue with other players, then figure out what's causing random melee punches out the the blue.
Not sure if it's just me or if this is a bug for anyone else, but I've had this happen to me multiple times in the past few days. I go to fire a gun, and my Champion will just randomly melee the air in front of them, even though I have my gun out full of ammo and hit R2 (playing on PS4). Happens at the worst times too, like right in front of someone I should be shooting, but instead I just randomly feel like giving them a fist bump mid air...
Not sure what's causing it either. It happens so infrequently and randomly that I have no idea when or where it'll happen, or with who (had it happen on multiple Champions).
Most recently, it was earlier today when I was playing Octane. I used his speed boost and was chasing down someone who darted inside a building. After the buff ended, he pops up right in front of me, so I go to fire, only to randomly melee his face as he mows me down in the time it takes me to finish the melee animation.....
