Hey, taking a step back i aint that confident in doing all that wiring stuff.
https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Apex-legends-dxgi-error-device-hung/td-p/7794112
I did find this guy, supposedly getting the same issue. saw another individual in the daily discussion threads on the apex subreddit.
other games working fine, so probs will just play those in the meantime. Cheers for the help though.
Its not the same issue as you have device removed error and he has a radeon card which AMD have not uploaded the fix for the hung errors yet. (only nvidia)
You will probably get issues when certain games start to use more CPU power.
If thats the case then just get the PSU.
I don't know if your old PSU has two 8 pin CPU power connectors to check this so rewiring everything maybe in vain.
Nah it doesnt have that unfortunately.
Is there some stress test program that can push my comp to the max? I believe you linked one previously.
(will also add that i received the DEVICE_ERROR_HUNG error in the past alongside dxgi device removed)
this one is for cpu's https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/prime95.html
Select the option for most heat and power.
to stop the test click test at the top left and click stop
Just got this error.
The error code is the same as what you get in Apex.
I'd say get the new PSU and return your old one as mentioned.
This way we know your CPU is getting the power it needs.
Alright, found a temporary solution.
- Do a DDU uninstall clean and restart.
- Install NVIDIA 417.35 drivers
This solution lasts until next PC reset to which i have to do it again.
Stilll receiving apex crash.txt things

build_id: 1554860081Its literally your PSU. you will keep getting errors unless you give your CPU the power it needs. 🙂
Yeah, finally got round to putting in old PSU. no crashes.
Guess i'll have to send it back.
Cheers for the help man 🙂
Still getting device error hung tho :/
Hmm lets try a DDU reinstall just incase one of the many things we tried affected it in some way.
Install this and select the clean and restart function: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
Download the latest driver for later: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Once you have restarted your PC go to device manager > display adaptors and right click MS basic display adaptor and select update.
(Even if it has no updates thats fine its just a check)
Then install the driver like normal.
Try the game once done.
ill check out Hung errors see if they are still an issue but they are suppose to be fixed with the driver changes.
Alright, was getting the apex crash.txts but now its back to DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED again. Even had the new drivers that geforce put out yesterday.
Geez im coming up blank here. . .
Either way its ideal to get the PSU sorted so your CPU can run @ 100%.
Ive dug around further online with not much luck.
A possible work around to try:
Download MSI afterburner again: https://www.msi.com/page/afterburner (scroll to the bottom)
Set the Power to 50% and apply then try the game.
Ill be asking EA staff if they can suggest everything but tbh we have tried nearly everything
Here is something to try:
Download this: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=8109 (untick the bloatware MS tried to give you)
Create a new folder and run the file, it will ask you for a location so send it to your new folder.
run the DXSetup.exe in the new folder and let it run.
Once done run the game.
If you have a DirectX corruption it should resolve it.
Try Changing setting.stream_memory to 0 in the videoconfig
C:\Users\%username%\Saved Games\Respawn\Apex\local
Nah neither helped, played a few games then same DXGI error
Try turning off AntiAliasing through Nvidia control panel and the game.
See how that goes
Press the Win key, type regedit and enter.
look for:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wscsvcChange the DWORD DelayedAutoStart from 1 to 0.
Restart the PC and test
There is no delayed start option in that file path. Should add it?
Just played a match with my mates, got DXGI within 5 minutes of drop.
Restarted PC got same error at jumpship.
You can do, Im mostly relaying what some staff have suggested incase something has been missed but it seems odd it only affects your system. :/
Nah got the same error at the character selection screen
Lets try disabling the recovery mode of the GPU. *A Windows ping system that detects the GPU*
Go To Windows Search > Search Regedit > Right click and select run as administrator.
Navigate here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers.
Right Click graphics drivers and select new In Windows Registry > Select DWORD (32-bit) Value.
Type TdrLevel (Write it exactly T and L should be capital) Open it and set the value to 0.
Restart the system and try playing
