I would certainly hope this is a mistake since at the moment, Apex Legends is still using EAC and still claims compatibility with the Steam Deck.

It's worth noting that this occurs regardless of verifying integrity of Apex Legends' game files or Proton EAC Runtime, and regardless of Proton version (whether Experimental or GE), but the game worked perfectly fine with GE 7-50 prior to the latest update, so this is an abrupt unexpected error resulting from the new season update.
