Re: That apex legend in pc with an ps4 controller it tells you it a Xbox controller

Hey @rhtcamper_ttv

This might be related to your Steam controller settings. Can you try something for me to see if it helps?

Open your Steam Settings and click on Controller. Click on General Controller Settings, then see if the button for PlayStation Configuration Support is checked. Try unchecking it, if so. After that start Apex Legends and see if you're able to see the correct controller icons.

Let me know how that goes once you're able to give it a try. Thanks!

/Kent

    Hey @ChristosKrousta

Can you share a bit more info on your setup? Are you running the game through Steam or Origin? Do you use any third party software for your PS4 controller?

  • Hello, this issua actually happend to me also, i connect my dualshock 4 through steam to apex and its only shows XBOX symbols, when I uncheck the ps configuration support its just stops working, the game won't recognize any input from the controller only from the keyboard, i can try the third party software DS4 and see if it can fix this problem but I still want an offical solution to this on steam.

    thank you!

    Hey @Yotam3412

What happens if you start your PC in a Clean Boot before launching Apex Legends? If there's anything else running that might be causing this to happen that could help to narrow it down.

You can find more details on how to set up a Clean Boot at the EA Help website. Please let me know how that goes once you have the chance to give it a try. Thanks!

  • For me this works but every time you back out the game and go back into the game you have to do it again but it’s better than nothing

    @storm_Gone1

That's definitely weird. Are you running the game through Origin or Steam?

  • I'm using tapstrafe and when I turn off configuration support the tapstrafe doesn't work

I love how EA just ghosted this issue. It's really frustrating to have to translate everything mid game. Please fix EA!

I found a fix, go into steam, right click Apex on Steam Library, the Properties, then Controller and disable steam input.
Easy as that, not sure why EA couldn't figure this out themselves but I guess they want more Origin users.

  • It worked for me! thanks so much, it's been bugging me for a while trying to figure that out.

  • That didn't work for me, at all. It just rendered the controller useless. lol

  • this didn't work for me - same as the most recent comment; my controller doesnt work at all if i have that option disabled. is there any other setting i need to change to get this to work? thanks
