Attempting to play after the latest update and it shows an error message saying "The client is not running the anti-cheat, or has failed the anti-cheat authentication." SteamDB ( https://steamdb.info/patchnotes/8312665/ ) shows the public branch with the "easyanticheat_x64.so" content removed. Is this an accident?

Same here, was gonna play today with friends but now I cant. Sad part is I switched to linux from windows because of Apex, but I get better FPS in linux than windows so ill wait for a fix. Eagerly waiting.

If people are able to save their "easyanticheat_x64.so" file before the update, you can replace it from where it was deleted from the update and continue playing the game. However, I would NOT RECOMMEND this it could possibly cause you to get banned for any type of checksum or version mismatch with easy anti-cheat. I'm sure the dev's didn't intend to have the file removed and should hopefully be fixed in the next update. It would be wonderful to hear any news or even an acknowledgement from EA support, thanks.

Squad has Linux EAC support, but the file needed to make it work has been missing from the servers for *years*. Restoring it from a backup makes it work again and no one has been banned:

I doubt that EAC would ban people for restoring the file. The checksum is still one that matches a file that was officially distributed. In any case, I restored the file from another OS install that did not have the Apex Legends update and it works for me again. Having the out of box experience working again on the steam deck would be great. I hope they fix this soon.
