Reticle color resets (unasked) when not set to certain numbers

How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
How severe is your issue? Minor impact to gameplay
What happens when the bug occurs? The color of the reticle resets to whatever the game logic deems "appropiate" (are you kidding me)
What should be happening instead? The reticle color should remain at whatever you set it to
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1. Set reticle color to RGB color code 16 255 16 (bright green) 2. Join game or firing range 3. Open options while ingame, don't change any settings 4. Close options and go back ingame 5. The reticle color has now reset to 0 176 0 (medium green)

The described bug also happens with many other colors that the game doesn't seem to deem "appropiate".

This is most likely due to the wierd "reticle color safety" setting, which upon setting a color asks you if you want to change the color to a "safe option".

This "safety" check should be removed immediately - people are smart enough to set a damn color for their reticle themselves and even if it turns out bad they can always reset it themselves. We don't need the game to do it for us.

Same. I've also found that there's a weird bug with this system where it changes the color every time you enter the reticle color selection menu and also when you revert the color.
Its really weird, you would think reverting the color would actually revert it to the numbers it was before (which the "Safe color" algorithm came up with in the first place) but it sets it to something completely different.

Also perhaps there may be people who want a "safe color" but lets put it at a suggestion. So maybe fix the bugs and then put a check box that lets you opt out of safe color.

As an update I took the liberty of recording a vod showcasing some of the bugs I've found with the color selection ui (specifically with the "safe color" algorithm):
1. When opening the color picker with a previously selected color, the color is reverted to what appears to be a fully saturated version. This is then applied to the selected color.
The color should NOT change unless the user clicks the "Apply" button. It also doesn't particularly make sense for the color in the picker to change from the current color when you first enter the menu.
2. When attempting to manually enter a color that was already previously generated by the algorithm, it doesn't accept that color and comes up with a new "safe" color
These "safe" colors should be consistent
3. The above is also reproducible with the "revert" button. If a color was successfully assigned in the past, it should be safe to use. The revert button should assign the color as is.
4. When attempting to assign an "illegal" color, the result of the correction algorithm is inconsistent. Referencing the video you will find that sometimes 154, 115, 255 results in 180, 150, 255 and other times 155, 115, 255. Color corrections should be mathematically consistent and reproducible 100% of the time.

I have legit the same Error.. Like ??? I was really looking forward to this feature but now i cant even change the lowest slider at all??

For those who want to set reticle color before the bug is solved:
C:\Users\{your user name}\Saved Games\Respawn\Apex\profile\profile.cfg
Seems lile reticle color is stored under this file locally, you can manually change the color under this file, and then dont open the reticle setting page again in case game resets the color.
Sometimes game might change it, not sure why, but you can save the actual color you want in the file again. You may install notepad++ to instantly detect the changes by the game.

@y_am_I_running - unfortunately it wont work because even changing the values on the line
reticle_color "(your colour settings)"
the game still ignores it and puts it back to a slightly different colour. Also if you try and make Profile.cfg read only. The game will just set your custom option on menu back to default. Its really bad bug which makes the whole function pretty frustrating to use.
For every game i have to reset the colour of my choice and it will only last until the game ends.

Any updates on when we can expect a fix for this? It is mildly annoying you cant really set the color of the reticle to the one you really want.

I've had luck putting that line in my autoexec

I found a fix and added it in my open thread. Will share it here as well.
You can actually just use the launch options on either via Steam or Origin. Just add
+reticle_color "x x x"
(no commas above, just use exact syntax replace x with your colour numbers.) so my full launch option is
+fps_max 180 +reticle_color "8 255 0"
