Strike pack mod

Product: Apex Legends
Platform:Microsoft XBOX One
Please specify your platform model. Microsoft Xbox One S
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? Captobvious1976
Please provide your squad mates' gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name if possible.
Are you using any software with an overlay? No
Which Legend were you playing (if applicable)?
Which Legends were your squad mates using (if applicable)?
Where did the issue occur? In a match
Which part of the map or menu were you in? If you don't remember the exact name, please describe the area or what you were trying to do in the menu. Every area
What were you doing when the issue occurred? E.g. respawning a squad mate at a beacon, using an ability, a squad mate left the game. Spectating enemies that killed my team
Did your squad mates also experience the issue? Yes
How many matches had you played in a row before the issue occurred? Numerous matches
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm)
How often does the bug occur? Rarely (0% - 9%)
How severe is your issue? Major impacts to gameplay
What happens when the bug occurs? It’s not a bug it’s players using strike pack mods to reduce recoil
What should be happening instead? They should not be using mods
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I have reported numerous people that are using them and people that have admitted to using them. The easiest way to find out is just Spectate the players been reported for these mods and noticed that they do not have any barrel stabilizer, they are running past barrel stabilizers and not picking them up and when they shoot their crosshairs don’t move one pixel. On any gun that is automatic especially the heavy hitting guns like spitfires and devotions

I am just wondering if the developers of Apex legends are going to do anything about the hundreds of thousands of players using strike pack mods to eliminate recoil. I have witnessed so many people using spitfires, or 99‘s, havoc and devotions with no barrel stabilizer and their cross hair does not move one pixel up or down. It is blatantly obvious that they are using a mod to counter the recoil. I play on Xbox one and I only play with PS4 people I do not get in the lobby is with PC players. So I know that it have to do with a strike pack or something similar with a mod to counter recoil. It is really hurting the experience of the players that are trying to be honest and play with a controller with no mods. I understand that a lot of people can counter the recoil by hand but not 100% to wear their cross hair is not moving up or down one pixel. That is humanly impossible. Please come up with some way to find out if a person is using that. A program like punk buster or something along those lines it’s ruining the gaming experience for a lot of players.

  • My last two deaths in a row were to strike packing R-99 n00bs with brand new accounts in Plat. This * is getting out of hand. Completely ruining the game.

  • @1sAnd0scould be worse 🙂 this dude is Diamond 2 :D also from today :D

p.s. also shows how bad Apex code regarding bullet flight is - in the beginning of the video if you slow down you can see dude hitting insane shot when the enemy was already behind the cover = bullet just finds the hitbox... makes you wonder how easy/strong aim assist in this game is/could be and why some people just don't hit shots on some days...

  • @Eshshshss it looks more like aim bot, not strike pack. Target is not in the cross hairs, but bullets hit anyway. Strike pack can't do that
  • I understand the frustration, though do note that the team is quite busy working on these types of players.

Though I'd like to note that this is not the correct place to discuss these types of issues, I think this would be more fit for the General Discussion subforum.

Well, that's up to you of course, though you'd most likely get more attention that way.

Note that developers are not directly in charge of punishing players using these types of modifications, the department that works on these issues deals with many different types of players on a day to day basis so it's hard to get rid of them.

Now you could say that they could put in some automation to detect these types of modifications, though this could also result in some false cases.

I also personally think that automatically trying to get rid of them could result in them finding a way around with something else, which is something we need to prevent too.

The best you can do from what I'm aware of is just reporting them through the normal means and just hope that the team can get rid of them.

Honestly do hope that we're going to see less players like this, we want the game to be fun for everyone after all.

@pinegoistic if you say so, not very aware of what's the difference to be honest.

Do you have a FAQ on Strike pack :P

But in any case, this is ridiculous game dynamics, just the fact that it is possible to curve the bullets.
    Oh wait https://youtu.be/NTEnoJCCNxM
  • @XHelperZ I would disagree with you here on the following points:

    1. developers are not in charge - well they are. If they would code the game so that bullet trajectory is calculated in the form where such counteractions / hacks are not possible, there would not be crazy hacks like this which just code wise probably tell something like "if bullet A is fired and there is hitbox on the screen => bullet trajectory = hitbox coordinates".
Most of the hacks in every FPS game originate from the game code itself, hack just makes possible things more possible be it a locked command or stuff like this.

Clearly here people just wanted to make the game work on the controller or something or make it just cool but the end result is hacker's paradise with stuff like this = you don't even need to aim.

    2. Automation is a must - given how many players are in the game + they can create a new account in under 1 min, it is not humanly possible to review all of the reports as there probably are/should be millions.

False-positive bans are ok as long as: a) they are absolute minority e.g. you manage to headshot non-dogging person with all headshots 1 time out of 1000 b) appeal process is in place and timely - I would personally wait a day or two for the sake of 10000000 hackers being banned in the meantime for good

The review should be in place only for appeal cases or some very important ones e.g. hacking in tournaments or something like that. Given if the hacker is good and actually can play the game and is using so-called "soft hacks" it would be anyway subjective decision similar to the debate whether well-known streamers are gods of the game or just pathetic low self-esteem hackers whose moral allows them to fool the nation and collect their money for it.

Well in my first point i was talking about the support team taking account of actions manually rather than the anti-cheat itself.

External modifications might prove hard to fix like this, even with the prediction I doubt we could create a proper system that detects strike-packs.

On your second point, you're completely correct.

It's not like I'm saying we shouldn't do it at all, though we shouldn't rush towards a solution.

Blatant hacking is easily detected, though I feel like it would be hard to detect such behaviour on a console by using external mods.

Well, I haven't studied the workings of anti-cheats, though I think it will take certainly a while before we see a working system to battle strike packs.

@pinegoistic thanks, actually this latter clip @13:30 probably shows the answer to my question - how the F people are so good with the wingman so often.

Official version: I just practice with it a lot and main it
Actual version: what you see in the clip :D

Damn I have no more mysteries to solve - road to Predator is clear :P
  • @XHelperZ dude just do the math - Apex has what 100 mil players.

Say 0.1% actually bother to report people daily = 100000 reports a day

Say you have to open and check it even if it takes like 10 seconds say for obvious aimbot = 1 mil seconds per day to review all reports = 278h = 35 people working full time only to review manual reports.

Sure number of them might differ yet so can review time but you know when I am going. At this scale, if Apex would hire people to review these reports manually they might actually lose all the money 🙂

Plus hiring and training takes time - say a new hack comes out or people start to report more => Apex would need to recruit X amount more people and make them do their job instantly = mission impossible.

Finally they say that they can detect 3rd party applications like mouse macro script... well then solution is halfway there - just add other metrics to it like hit percentage, k/d ratio, player progress vs his previous stats etc. and viola you have yourself quite fool proof automated system. Yet I doubt that first part is actually working seeing what I am seeing :D
