This might be related to your Steam controller settings. Can you try something for me to see if it helps?Open your Steam Settings and click on Controller. Click on General Controller Settings, then see if the button for PlayStation Configuration Support is checked. Try unchecking it, if so. After that start Apex Legends and see if you're able to see the correct controller icons.
