Why Are The Apex Legends Servers So Bad?

Why are the servers constantly terrible? I'm on 150-200 ping every day without fail, and consistently getting matches with 500 ping. Then I play ranked and get 500 ping, then get disconnected and I'm penalized for it. I haven't had an issue with Fortnite's servers in years and yet Apex Legends server issues have plagued it since release. Apex Legends earns billions a year so surely they can afford to upgrade their servers right? The player base has been asking them to fix the servers for years and nothing is done about it. I hop on to play with my friend then realize I'm getting 500 ping, I die, and get discouraged to play the game and I just end up going to play something else. I don't play Valorant, but friends of mine have praised their servers so much, and these same friends have nothing but bad things to say about Apex's servers. I would put Apex as an A maybe even S tier game but the server issues bring that down to a B or a C.

    I hear you both. I have to hit servers 3000+miles away at 220ms ping to get a server with 0%PL.  Closest servers are 220+ with 6-32%PL and are about 650 miles away.  My connection to absolutely anything else is flawless with latency being at normal levels:  <40 ms typically for anything within a 1500 mile radius.

    AND on top of that, the servers are now even more consistently terrible, with a constant 350+ every match. Another thing is I just completed a Control match, got a ton of sniper kills for a challenge. As the match is ending your terrible servers died again, I was kicked back to the title screen, and now I didn't get credit for ANYTHING I did during the match. If any Respawn devs see this, your game is hot garbage. Go work for another company that actually cares about their player base.

    @LikeableLuna I have the same issue, horrible ping, or high loss packets, which makes this game unplayable, dunno when they will fix the EU servers...

    Seeing big ping spikes when connected to London server (should be lowest ping connection for me), frequently at the start of matches. Have also been running Terminal pinging google.com on my shared wired connection to get a baseline while playing Apex and I see no concurrent issues in those pings when Apex is lagging, which leads me to believe it's either an issue with the code or it's some extra layer of DDOS protection or something that's interfering.

    I’ve been kicked from 4 matches now and given a time penalty…. Why?!?!  Its your crap server not me

    I am playing from Korea. I play on the Oregon server in order to chat. My ping on that server is around 150ms. My closest server is Japan and some games are 50ms and then some games are 250ms. My last game and even at the firing range, my ping was 350ms. So I don't know what is going on and why I can't connect to closer servers like Taiwan and others without an issue.

    Atrocious server performance from London hub this lunchtime. Constant hitching, bad hit reg, absolutely infuriating. Every single round.

    Set up a Terminal ping on the shared wired connection after the first round and the connection is solid pinging at avg. 12m/s, whereas in Apex I'm spiking from avg. 20 to avg 40ms accompanied by a hitching effect every time.
