The issue they are trying to solve is that no one likes downtime, nowadays more than ever. It's one of the major things COD has on BF. If you've got an hour to play you don't want half of it to be spent literally not playing. In fact, the reason I didn't play BF1 despite liking it more than COD at the time is because DOM would last about 3 minutes and then it would take about 3 minutes to get back to actually playing.
If time between matches and round start was cut in at least half, I might not mind a couple of seconds of delay before being allowed to respawn but they are walking a fine line of what is tolerable downtime as it is.
That's the point, those "should" be different games, if you wanna play fast paced FPS then you can allways play COD.
Battlefield till BF4 was always a squad based fps, each class counted as much as another and imho, i would say the best example was BF2 and Bad Company 2.
I understand they have to be appealing for modern audience and ofc I would also hate to stay dead around 15 seconds but i also understand that it should be balanced and oriented to a teamplay rather than solo wolfing.
The answer for you will be to stick with your team and you might not have to wait 15sec.
