Open Beta Feedback, veteran player since Battlefield 1942
For the developers of Battlefield 6, I wanted to share my feedback as a player that has experienced every Battlefield since Battlefield 1942, with the exception of Hardline and 2042. The game is amazing, and for everything aside from the three biggest issues I have with the game, I consider it to be exceptional.
#1. Sniper rifles, scopes, and scope glint.
i understand the developers have responded to player feedback regarding scope glint, which I want to comment on. Scope glint doesn’t need to be “toned down,” it needs to be removed for all sniper scopes below a reasonable magnification level, such as 8x zoom. From my testing, it appears even lower level magnification for sniper rifles causes scope glint, even for scopes that are actually intended to be used on assault rifles and machine guns, such as ACOGs, and LPVOs below 6x zoom. These scopes should not cause glint, and it also does not make technical sense that they only cause glint while mounted on a sniper rifle. I understand higher magnification scopes are not available in the current beta build, but no scope currently present in the beta build of the game should cause scope glint. For higher magnification scopes added in the future the scope glint should be toned down a considerable amount.
#2. Aircraft movement- Helicopters feel much faster, lighter, with very little momentum carried through direction changes in comparison with Battlefield 2, 3, and 4. Heavier helicopter controls would not only make the weapons easier to aim and make certain manuevers such as circle strafing more possible— it would also enable them to be more balanced in regards to map control, carrying less speed to travel across the map or get into cover from threats. In regards to jets, I feel like the issue is the opposite. Controls feel extremely heavy (especially for an aircraft that should be as manueverable as an F-16) and I find it more difficult than ever to track other air targets in a dogfight.
NOTE: INCORRECT F-16 MODEL- Small issue that most would consider irrelevant, but the F-16 model in game is of a Block 5 or Block 10 variant A model, as indicated by the smaller horizontal stabilizers. These aircraft are no longer in service, and the visual model should be altered to represent a variant currently in service with the larger horizontal stabilizer.
#3. Parachutes- I understand there are severe issues with the Cairo map, and rooftop parachuting. This is NOT an issue with map design, there may be a few places here and there that players can make their way to rooftops, which can be very easily fixed… the TRUE issue is with parachutes, which should not be able to be deployed instantaneously as soon as a played becomes airborne. Additionally, parachutes should not glide nearly horizontally without any speed carried into the decent. Parachutes need a lot of energy to be floated this way, and the player should fall quite some distance before being able to slow the decent in such a manner. Making the parachutes FAR less effective will solve the rooftop jumping issue.
Thank you for your attention.
