Re: Driver error with AMD GPU
Crash Details:
GPU: AMD RX 7900 XT Adrenalin 24.8.1, no overclock, clean driver install
CPU: Intel i7-13700KF @ 5GHz
RAM: 32GB Corsair Ballistix
PSU: 1000W
Storage: 2TB Crucial P2 Plus M.2 NVME
OS: Windows 11 Pro 23H2 fully updated
Battlefield 6 Beta
Observed BSODs:
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL – ntoskrnl.exe
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED – eaanticheat.sys
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA – ntoskrnl.exe
DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER – ntoskrnl.exe
Reproduction Steps:
Launch BF6 beta via Steam
Reach main menu or begin matchmaking
System BSOD occurs within 1 to 10 minutes, usually right upon death
Notes:
Clean Windows install with full chipset, BIOS, and driver updates prior to testing
No overclocking applied, all AMD Adrenalin settings default
Multiple minidumps available, three of which clearly identify ntoskrnl.exe as the faulting driver, but I assume eaanticheat.sys is just the kernel panicking
From what I can tell this is not happening exclusively to AMD RX 7900 series cards, as I also tested it on an RX 7090XT and an RX 4600 with the same result
It runs fine until it either turns my system completely off with no error code, or it gives me a BSOD screen
I loved the beta, and I look forward to playing it when it comes out, assuming these issues are addressed by the second beta next week
If not, I plan to withhold my pre-order and see how long it takes to resolve
I do question why QA did not catch this issue, should not EA’s testing department have tried non-NVIDIA GPUs
