Placing down a shield doesn't work, unless you bring out another shield

Sometimes when you place down a shield it doesn't appear in the world and it also removes it from your inventory. But if you resupply from a support ammo/medic box and you take out the new shield on your hands, the other shield that you put down before appears. Look at the video attached for reference.
