Tried Everything But the Beta Won't Launch on PC? Create A New Local Admin User!
Hey all - sharing my post from Reddit below. I tried everything prior and even missed out on Labs because of the launcher issue. Finally got it working and hope this helps!
My game wouldn't launch past the Javelin splash screen, and it wouldn't even leave anything clues in the Event Viewer. No error codes, nothing. The issue made me miss out on the Labs tests. Everything related to Secure Boot was perfect, I'm on Windows 11, and literally tried everything. I asked ChatGPT, and it threw out a last ditch idea just to try - and it worked.
Basically, just create a new Local Admin User that isn't tied to a Microsoft Account. Then redownload Steam and the beta on that account, and boom it works. No idea why this could be, but I'm guessing something with the anti-cheat is tied to the Windows account itself. Here's the Command Prompt steps ChatGPT gave me:
Open Command Prompt as Administrator
- Type the following:
net user TestAdmin123 /add
net localgroup administrators TestAdmin123 /add
You just created a new admin user named TestAdmin123 with no password.
After Creating the User
- Log out of your current account
- Switch to the new account (TestAdmin or whatever you named it)
- Open Steam and EA App (install fresh if needed)
- Launch Battlefield 6 Beta from scratch — skip copying configs or settings
Hope this helps everyone who was having the same issue as me - and hopefully they patch this somehow before launch.
INFO – Marked As Solution For Visibility
Hi cplcarmine ,
Thanks for sharing your experience and the workaround you found for getting the BF6 beta client to launch. Creating a new, fresh Windows admin account can indeed help in some cases where the game won’t start on your main account, and it’s great to hear it worked for you.
However, as you mentioned, this is more of a workaround than a true solution. Creating a whole new Windows user is a significant step and may not be ideal for everyone, as it can involve reinstalling apps and reconfiguring settings.
If others are experiencing similar issues, here are some less drastic troubleshooting steps to try before creating a new Windows account:

If others are experiencing similar issues, here are some less drastic troubleshooting steps to try before creating a new Windows account:
- Check for Conflicting Software:
- Review which applications start automatically when you log in (Task Manager > Startup tab).
- Temporarily disable non-essential startup programs, especially overlays (Discord, GeForce Experience), antivirus, or other security software, and then try launching the beta again.
- Run as Administrator:
- Right-click the BF6 beta launcher and select “Run as administrator.”
- Update Windows and Drivers:
- Make sure your Windows installation and graphics drivers are fully up to date.
- Verify Game Files:
- Use Steam or the EA app to verify the integrity of the game files.
- Check Security Settings:
- Ensure Secure Boot is enabled (which you’ve already done).
- Temporarily disable any third-party antivirus or firewall to see if they’re interfering.
- Check for Corrupt User Profile:
- Sometimes, a corrupt Windows user profile can cause issues. If none of the above steps work, creating a new local admin account (as you did) can help confirm if the problem is profile-specific.
If the game launches on a new Windows account, it suggests something specific to your main user profile is blocking the client, possibly a background app, a permissions issue, or a corrupt setting. If you want to dig deeper, try re-enabling startup apps one by one on your main account to identify the culprit.Again, thanks for sharing your solution! Hopefully, this will help others troubleshoot before creating a new Windows account. 🙂
