Xbox Game Pass required to play modes in battlefield 6 beta?

I installed Battlefield 6 Open Beta on my xbox one series S, linked my twitch, xbox, and steam on my EA account and watched a streamer playing battle field 6 with drops on to get an early access code...

Completly agree, it's not "open" and definitely not free!... I've asked them to explain their messaging
