About the missing compensation for EA App players affected by the outage
There's a theory going around that players who tried the portal server workaround during the EA App will not receive the compensation, and I have some evidence that it might be what's going on:
My 2 siblings and I pre-ordered the game on the EA App, both of them bought the Phantom Edition whereas I bought the Standard Edition. When the game launched, none of us 3 were able to play any mode at all (not even the campaign) due to the outage, and afaik, literally everyone who bought it on EA App was affected by this. It was very frustrating. A couple hours into the outage, people on social media discovered the Portal workaround where you could join community servers with a trick. My sister and I tried this workaround to see if it's real, and we got into a random portal server, walked around for like 1 or 2 minutes and then quit the game entirely and decided to wait for a fix.
My brother did not try this workaround as he already gave up on playing that night and left the house before it was discovered, and guess what, he did indeed received the compensation, but my sister and I, who briefly tried the portal workaround for not more than 2 minutes did not receive anything.
During the outage we discussed refunding it and getting it on Steam to play normally, but ultimately decided to be patient and wait it out till it gets fixed. When the compensation for affected players was announced, we were glad we waited it out and patience would be rewarded. Little did we know that trying to play the game hours after being unable to play at all by joining a portal server with a workaround even for a single second would cancel you out of being compensated. (Fun fact: people who refunded it on EA App to get it on Steam so they can play on launch did get compensated lmao)
I contacted the support about it and got this reply:
Isn't it comical how they messed up so bad that they decided they have to hand out compensations, but also messed up with handing out said compensations?
I encourage everyone who was affected by the outage and did not receive the compensation to voice your disappointment with their false promise. Don't let them sweep this under the rug. They said anyone on the EA App who was impacted will get compensated. People who tried the workaround that was discovered HOURS into the outage were still impacted, and thus should be compensated.
