I understand about draft, clear air etc etc, they still shouldn't be in one stupid massive train for their final attempt, thats dumb, thats not how a real qualifying ends.
The devs have coded the Ai to do the same. However with Ai it would have to be scripted with A lot of uniformity. So they will all go out and start their final push lap with a set distance between eachother: if they didn’t and the Ai went out randomly in the last few minutes. It would most likely end up with them getting in the each other’s way resulting in Top ten being all over place every race. For instance a Haas makes into Q3 and goes out on his lap followed by a Red Bull. As Ai isn’t perfect you’ll end up with Red bull Qualifying in 10th because it got stuck behind a Haas. Then everyone would then complain 1st - 10th in Q3 is unrealistic

@ScarDuck14Well yeh but i don't understand why a few cars don't drive out starting around the 3/4 min mark instead of them all waiting until theres only 2 minutes left within seconds of eachother.
But you get what i'm on about right? seeing them setting times in a uniform train just kills the realism for me.- 3 years ago
More realistic this way than seeing the top 5 driver not qualified for q3 because of traffic
how often does it happen in real and this is the easiest way to code it
I would hate to see all good driver get traffic 50% of the time because is more realistic the way they came out the pit

I’m sure the devs would like to make it feel more realistic and balanced but they don’t get the time and resources to get everything in the game how they and we would love see and experience. Only have to look at the amount of bugs every game has at launch.

@ScarDuck14
Yeah maybe but they seem to get the AI to behave okay on their opening Q flying laps or even formation laps in a race, I don't see why they couldn't figure this out too.
Qualifying is important in F1 so it should be represented well in game especially for street circuits like Monaco, so it needs to be polished like the race itself imo.
Not having time to make qualifying realistic in a F1 game feels wrong thats all.The next time you guys do a qualifying session just watch the AI on the track map when they post their last time and you'll see what i'm on about, seeing it for 1000th time gets a bit much and feels silly for whats meant to be a sim.
