@Ultrasonic_77Cockpit view is BROKEN at the moment...the ability to look left and right is locked..several people on various platforms are having the same issue..I race in cockpit view and honestly didn't know before posts like yours that looking left and right was even an option. Need to check if it is on PS5 now but it's perfectly possibly to drive without this. Not saying this shouldn't be fixed though.
If it was perfectly fine to drive without looking left or right, go tell Lewis or Max to rip their mirrors off as they don't need them! Could save on weight too!
Seriously?

100% serious. I race using cockpit view and have never used look left/right or the rear view mirror. I'm not sure there are enough button mapping options on console for look left/right to be a realistic option when racing but haven't checked back to the game to see but my suspicion is that all console players drive without this. It would of course be nice to have though. As I said I wasn't saying that it shouldn't be fixed for those used to this. However it's not true that cockpit view is immediately unplayable without this.
For info. I do have the 'look to apex' camera setting on max. but otherwise rely on the proximity arrows.
- 2 years ago@Ultrasonic_77 Some of us (me) like to play it as close to real life as possible without aids on, without magical floating in the air arrows that tell us where cars are around us, without using a floating vanity mirror to see behind us, without using T-cam view as sitting up there in real life would require very long arms and legs to reach the wheel and pedals... Some of us like to emulate the reality of F1 or at least get as close as possible to that. I'm pretty sure real life drivers use mirrors to see what's going on around them..

I detest this attitude certain types of people have, that if THEY don't need something, then it isn't a thing that needs fixing, and anyone asking for it to be fixed is somehow overreacting. I bought a sim rig, meticulously set up my wheel and rig to have as realistic an experience as possible, and having the equivalent of a concrete neck brace on is utterly immersion ruining.

Note the context of this exchange was me suggesting somebody not happy with the HUD trying cockpit view, to see if the more minimal display on the steering wheel would be less intrusive, as well as encouraging them to try what I feel is the more immersive and enjoyable way to play. I feel this is all actually very much in line with your own views. It's up to them if they try this, and if they do whether they feel it works without look left/right or not but my sole point was it's not impossible to play without this.
