Community Manager@seichrotierer Due to the way you phrased it, "a way to save the controller settings", @ScarDuck14 took it as you inquiring if the patch broke the game in a way no new controller profiles can be saved. You're talking past each other.
I get that you're asking how to backup the game config files from the Steam folders, but even then at first I thought you were having trouble creating a new device profile too.
Back off a bit. ScarDuck had already raised this issue internally with EA long before your post, and made his thoughts about the here and now of this franchise quite clear in this very topic a few pages ago. You're on the same side.
