Doesn't make it less sad. We as VR users all want to know if it's finally fixed or not... IF it's on their agenda this time or not at all.
Why so urgent? Since it's a break or make point for VR users. IF it's fixed, then I will buy F1 2023 and together with me many other VR racers, but if it's not fixed, then I won't buy it and together with my many VR racers too. I'm sure about that. It was the biggest disappointment in VR history.
The lack of communication about this subject is really hurting, this issue has been brought up so many times at the F1 2022 forums and they didn't even take the time for 1 minute to give an official statement about it. I really don't get why.
Their whole F1 2023 announcement is nonsense regarding VR now, because they also announced VR for F1 2022, but it was never usable.
Let's imagine that the the information given so far included a comment along the lines of 'improved VR performance'. You still wouldn't actually know if it was now in a state that you'd be happy with, would you? That's all I was saying above.
I would absolutely like better information across the board btw, not just in relation to VR. It's up to EA to choose to market the game however they wish though, and players can react as they see fit. Anyone who doesn't feel they have enough info. or confidence should not pre-order the game but rather wait to see what actually gets released.

No, improved says nothing at all. I only what to know if that specific bug is fixed. IF they state that "head movement is now smooth in VR", then it's solved, if they don't state that then it's not really saying anything. But it can be explained quite easy, because it's simply saying: the bug stuttering while moving your head in VR is fixed. Done. Then it's clear for all of us.

That's what I do. But I'm still excited for the news that the bug is fixed. I really want to get it on their agenda if it isn't already. So I didn't give up my hope. No need to be so pessimistic as @SteveJackson is here. I think that there is a serious chance that they fix it. - 3 years ago
I think a third party developer bolted on the VR implementation last year. It was definitely the worst vr racing experience on the market. The head tracking delay that made you nauseous and many things in game weren’t even rendered in 3d. It was a complete hack job and they not only did they not try to fix it, they gaslighted everyone by acting like it didn’t even exist.
I spent over 2 hours trying different settings to fix it because I refused to believe that they would sell something so bad. After 2 hours Steam won’t let you refund it so I was stuck with it. Codemasters, EA and Steam successfully lifted $89 from me but it was partially my fault for letting it happen. I won’t fall for it again.
At some point fairly soon after release, a trusted VR player will report if it’s been fixed.
- mariohomoh3 years agoHero (Retired)@GuusHugo you won't be getting that answer until the pre-release marketing kicks in high gear.
Probably not even before the review embargo ends up and reviewers give their verdict on VR.
And I mean the proper review embargo, not the content creator previews that EA does as those seem heavy scrutinized and tight on what can be commented on and what is a no-go.
And if this smoothing doesn't get a spotlight on the pre-release material, I wouldn't hold any hope of it being fixed.
Red flags and XP Boost are getting buzz already. Hard to imagine they've got much better features or fixes in stock if those two are making into the bullet points. - 3 years ago@Ultrasonic_77 let's imagine that instead of that vague useless line they said "fixed head tracking lag and stutter present when fps is below headset refresh rate" then OP and I and other VR players would maybe consider buying it. I'm going to make the bold prediction that it's not fixed. It's ok I love iRacing and would rather support that company instead of EA / Codemasters.

No need for 'bold predictions' now either since the game is out. Sadly this is in the 'not fixed' category by all reports.

F123 didnt fix the problem

EA released a game with a main feature crippled by incompetence? Then they left it that way for a year and didn't fix it for their annual DLC release??
I'm shocked. - 3 years ago
EA, I'm getting up there in age, and you continue to disappoint me decade after decade. I am the one who blasted the boards demanding VR, then you release it broken. You are either too inept to find a fix, or you're actually trolling the people that matter. A mouth breather couldn't tell the difference from input lag, to frame time inconsistencies, so don't give us that trash about "it's subjective". Maybe I put my money where my mouth is and hire a lawyer to contact F1/Liberty Media about your mishandling of this franchise?
EA, FIX THE G** D*** VR HEAD TRACKING!!!!
- 3 years ago@Nasty187 join us in iRacing open wheel. VR is incredibly good, and it's a proper simulator.
Short EA - 3 years ago
What do you expect from garbage, blurry, stuttered, 20 years old engine.
- 3 years ago@Stampede_251 I already am. I am all over Formula A and the W13 in iRacing. 2500 hours in heavily modded Assetto Corsa (Gotta love Race Sim Studio's Formula Hybrid 23).
Both games I run in wide FOV Pimax. 144hz in iRacing, 120hz in Assetto Corsa, both with no reprojection. NO VR ISSUES.
If EA had me on QA this thread wouldn't exist. I have zero faith that EA actually cares about fixing the game as long as they meet their sales targets.
Sadly, if you want a BETTER VR Formula 1 experience with VR tech that ACTUALLY WORKS AS IT SHOULD, then F1 2023 is not for you. It's almost as if F1 23 is the Mario Kart of the F1 simulation world when put up against iRacing, AC and Rfactor Formula mods.
EA really can bring a gamer to depression. - 3 years ago@Nasty187 lovely to hear! I love the W13 in iRacing. Great community too. Small but very skilled and committed group. I love the Race Sim Studio Formula Hybrid 23 too! Verstappen said that it's a great sim.
Yeah I'm on Nvidia RTX 4090, Reverb G2, 64 GB ram, 13600KF CPU, these run like absolute dream, like butter.
You have a good point about the QA - they just don't care. What I don't like is what this says about them as a company- they will lie to get sales. This is not VR support. I'm pretty sure this is not legal in the European Union, I will look into it. I'd like a refund for F1 22.
They are bringing a FIFA philosophy to simracing. The problem is that simracing is much closer to racing than FIFA on a gamepad is to playing football. They don't care. In the long term, the better product will win, and hopefully that means that the F1 rights go to someone who cares about building a good product.
Short EA, long iRacing and Kunos Simulazione
Let me know if you ever wanna practice together, Montreal is kicking my * this week :D - Ultrasonic_773 years agoHero
I think there's an important distinction to be made between testing to find there's a problem and then being able to rectify it. Beta tests and I'm sure internal testing have no difficulty doing the former.
- 3 years ago@Stampede_251 Could you share your VR settings for the G2 for iRacing? I assume you're using OpenXR?
