you can't treat us like idiots by saying that you modify the physics etc. with a game that must also run on old consoles there's no way we're not stupid at least you didn't invent the double version which is unlikely... you can't expect us to spend 80eurp for an f1 23 with updated liveries...we are passionate but not stupid the community must react by not buying the game stop

I know the talent in that team, and they could have very well done it.I know nothing (believe me this makes me go crazy 🤣) but the know how that they have which started with F1 23 is huge, so I have high hopes, and genuinely can't wait to try it!

@Nellix82 I said it was complex, not impossible. Also, dynamic weather system and rubberised track is technically not handling. I see no hint in their release video about all that, nor I see it in their steam page. They explicitly talk about handling.There are/were many things to improve in the handling before even starting thinking about weather system or anything that contours the handling.They could have done it already, but I have no idea.Also, having been in that team for 9 years, no I don't think anyone can be rightfully fed up. I've seen yes bad decision at times, but I have also seen a continuous improvement on many things. People don't know how hard it is to make yearly release game and on top of that, a sports one.

@mariohomoh Sorry, like I said, long week, little scatterbrained, let me elaborate.2k is probably the only company that could take a realistic run at the license. Couple problems though, they're undoubtedly pouring significant resources into GTA VI so taking on a new big-name IP and building in from the ground up probably not high up on the list of priorities. Secondly, for every microtransaction in F1 right now there's at least 10 in NBA 2K## so they're hardly a savior, which I guess leads to the larger point I was trying to make.I've noticed for several year now, even back when I was just a lurker on the old CM boards that people like to say things like "If only so-and-so had the F1 license this game would be so much better". Problem is small studios don't have the money for the license, big studios need to sell stuff quickly to satisfy shareholders.Then there's problems on the consumer side to. Casual players want a more arcade experience because they just want to out there and race with Verstappen, Hamilton and the gang while hardcore players want a sim experience that puts their abilities to the test. Satisfying everyone is never an option. Even in F1 24 had been next gen only and built from the ground up using UE5 I'm sure people would have found plenty of things to complain about.Anyway, maybe it's just the topic of the thread title, but I guess I just feel like people are getting way way way too worked up about this.Sorry for the rants...End Rant.

@Nellix82 @If the game isn’t up to your standards then don’t buy it. No one is forcing you to buy it year after year.This franchise may not be for you. I know you want it to be a full sim but that’s not what they’re aiming for. they want it to be accessible to as many people as possible. 90%+ of the people who buy this game don’t want to spend hours tweaking their car setup just to get through the first two turns because the physics engine is so complicated and convoluted.i say this half jokingly, but honestly we’re lucky they haven't implemented banana peels, turtle shells, or invincibility stars yet because for the record Mario kart sold 8 million copies in 2023 alone. Couldn’t find totals for f1 23, But I think MK8 wins.TLDR approachable games sell well and make a lot of money

@TotosHeadphones very relaxed but explain to me how a new graphics engine could run on a console that could never support dynamic weather settings on cars particularly more powerful graphics more powerful fps changes for online not even mentioned and not even a change to the netcode which is painful. .they tell me we have 2 versions one ps5 one ps4 then I can believe it.....but if they want to make fun by saying we modified the physics using ego therefore old soup then no it's yet another copy and paste of a game that you then put in the shelf because it gets boring.....the question is when do you look to the future? My answer is when you lose sales and realize that online is the future without excluding offline obviously.

UE4 is not a "new" engine. It was released in 2014 and PS4 in end of 2013.
They are the same age ... so it's not that a "new" engine overstrains the poor old console.
I am not even sure that the switch to UE4 will result in better graphics in F1 24. You see that in WRC: that graphics are not really better than in the old games (to my perception they are even worse). So may be F1 24 is a compromise for the future. Switching engine (and possibly sacrifying graphical improvements for now) allows/forces to rewrite a lot of code form ground up (not only graphics wise - an engine does much, much more), and may be is strategic to be able to do the step to UE5 in F1 25/26 ?
Time will tell.

That's what I guess (and hope), too.
But there are so many rumors and clues that I would not rule it out completety.
At first I was: "New engine, YEAH, new chances for a better game!"
Now I am: "PLEASE keep EGO and just fix those myriad of bugs and other annoyances in this game".
I think the idea came up because they switched to UE4 on WRC. But the reason was simply because EGO could not handle those huge stages in rally anymore.
That reason makes no sense in an F1 game with fixed tracks.
The only reason of using UE4 in F1 24 would be that they plan to switch to UE5 in the future and this is the first iteration. In this case it could make sense to first use UE4 and not go to UE5 directly as they currenlty have the knowledge at hand in form of the guys that code WRC.
Of course: only speculation ....
My guess: they keep EGO
My fear: they use UE4 and mess it up BIG TIME......

@Categoria: Seichrotierer if you have ego and obviously you can't correct the errors because now they are all cheated folders you could do something very elegant make the game pay half as much as you update liveries and some * about physics let's remember that we still have the right right left left in the geometries etc. etc

You can't imagine what it means to switch to a new graphics engine. It's not a job you can do in 9 months of development, which is why we will have the ego engine which will be even more advanced on the physical side too. It is a well-tested and lightweight graphics engine compared to Unreal Engine, because trust me, Unreal Engine is a very heavy and difficult graphics engine to fine-tune. For this reason, forget the jokes that are said around and wait for news from codemasters and above all news regarding the new physics, because physics can improve a lot even with old hardware. For the jaw-breaking graphics we will have to wait 1-2 years but at least let's wait until we see some gameplay to judge everything else

For goodness sake people, put your pitchforks down. If you're complaining about a lack of engine switch without any information being released and a lack of the promise of previous bugs being fixed in a 34 seconds trailer, your expectations are too high.
You can presume as much you want but it's all moot until solid features and details are released by EA/CM.
I understand it's your hard earned money being spent in the long term but currently, nobody is forcing you to pre-order, you are not contracted to buy this because you have purchased a previous version, you have spent no money yet. There is very little point claiming that the developers are making you out to be stupid. Maybe it's better not to expect anything to begin with, then your disappointment will be miniscule.
