Patch 1.7 ruined handling for controller players

I decided to make this a post on its own, separate from the main handling feedback post, as for me it absolutely deserves attention!

The newly released patch 1.7 has now completely broken the handling physics for the controller player in my personal experience.

The controller handling was so much better in 1.6. How on earth is this supposed to be an improvement for controller players? It's now much worse!

It feels like I have automatic steering assist on all the time.

The front end feels totally wrong. It feels like it's almost double turning. There is a complete lack of smoothness and liniartty to the steering.

I'm sticking with F123 until this is completely reworked!

The criticism here is not at all productive. Can anyone define the specific issues?

I currently play on controller, 100 AI and no assists, I’m about 2 tenths up on my team mate, super close racing with the AI, it feels good. The issue is that entire last sentence is basically useless, it’s just my experience, it isn’t defining anything. In the same way that ‘the game is now UNPLAYABLE’ is just a nonsense statement, if I were to say ‘well I can drive it just fine so it’s great’ that would be a weak contribution.

What are the problems exactly? For me it feels pretty good, but I’m not an expert, so I’d be curious to hear an intelligent criticism. Just saying ‘I am now slower’ is meaningless.

i will say that if I don’t use a custom setup it’s actually atrocious. I think it would be a huge improvement to see the default setups actually account for the handling model. Maybe instead of 5 there should be more like 20, featuring different styles - maybe this would be too confusing for casual players idk but the defaults are currently like driving a boat, there’s no snap to them at all.

@kellston29 The default setups work fine for F2 just run the on diff all the way left and the setup the game suggest for the track your running.
I personally think the aggressive slip angle is what causes most issues and might need tone down a touch but that's just me.
  • @BadMayh3m yeah I actually ran F2 on defaults and it was passable, for F1 though I think they leave a lot to be desired. By aggressive slip angle do you mean that the car doesn’t turn enough?

I understand what slip angle is but I don’t understand aggressive in this context - my go to reaction would be that an aggressive slip angle means the car is turning too much.

@kellston29 For me its where the tires let go when you're too aggressive with the steering. For example you try to cut the corner tighter then the front goes loose followed by the rear if not corrected at once.
To me the curve appears to need adjusting so it's not so pronounce.
Of course wouldn't be the 1st time Ive ever been wrong🤔🤔🤔
  • The car now feels terrible to drive. Even on time trial the soft tyres feels like a set of hard tyres after 20+ laps! Braking and taking corners are so much more difficult.

  • @IanM282 I have the exact same issue like the steering wheel is so sensitive and cannot even be accurate when i take a turn it's like i'm playing f1 24 with my keyboard right ?

@Public_class_Sus Yep they have well and truly made a complete and utter hash of the handling in F124, but more so for controller players.

Definitely a step in the wrong direction, far too much steering override.

I am observing what you do all year and I have an opinion that I can proof with data. The only thing that happens is that each time the game ge’s more broken by a new patch, you will thank you people for beta testing it, reporting here and we never hear back until the game gets broken even more snd then you will thank you people for testing it and that you have reported to dev that they have succeeded. I made up my mind on how I spend my money in 2025. I really hope FIA will make up their mind too on who gets the license.
