PS5 Slim overheating playing Madden 27

Hi,

I'm experiencing a serious overheating issue with Madden NFL 27 on PS5 Slim and I would like to know if the development team is aware of it.

My PS5 repeatedly shows the "Your PS5 is too hot. Turn off your PS5 and wait until the temperature goes down" warning while playing Madden NFL 27. On several occasions, the console has then completely shut itself down.

The strange part is that this appears to be specifically related to Madden NFL 27.

The problem usually happens when transitioning from menus to actual gameplay. I've experienced it in:

MUT mini-games/challenges

Franchise

Quick Play

Sometimes I can complete a short MUT challenge, but the overheating warning appears afterwards. Other times the fan suddenly ramps up extremely fast and the console shuts down before I can properly start playing.

Troubleshooting I've already done:

Opened and thoroughly cleaned the accessible fan and ventilation areas of my PS5 Slim.

Made sure the PS5 has plenty of open space around it.

Tested an external cooling stand/fan.

Disabled 120 Hz output.

Disabled VRR.

Tested different graphical/display settings.

Most importantly, I have tested College Football 27 on exactly the same PS5. I can play full games normally. The PS5 fan becomes audible under load, but I don't get the overheating warning and the console doesn't shut down.

With Madden NFL 27, however, the temperature warning can appear after only a few minutes of gameplay.

I've also seen other PS5 users reporting similar overheating/shutdown behaviour with Madden NFL 27, so I don't appear to be the only person experiencing this.

Could EA please confirm:

1. Is the Madden team aware of this issue on PS5?

2. Is it currently being investigated?

3. Could there be an abnormal GPU/CPU load or graphical issue during gameplay?

4. Is there a workaround or specific graphics setting affected players should use?

5. Is a patch planned?

At this point I don't feel comfortable continuing to launch the game because repeatedly triggering the PS5 thermal protection and automatic shutdown could potentially damage the console.

I would really appreciate it if an EA Community Manager could escalate this to the Madden NFL 27 technical team.

Platform: PlayStation 5 Slim

Game: Madden NFL 27

Issue: PS5 overheating warning / thermal shutdown

Occurs: Primarily when entering gameplay

Other games tested: College Football 27 works normally

If anyone else is experiencing the same issue on PS5, please reply with your PS5 model and when the overheating warning occurs. It would be useful to see how widespread this is.

Glad I’m not the only one experiencing this issue. I can navigate the menus and everything, but once in the game the console fully shuts off. I hope this gets fixed and ea knows because it is not worth it to play right now. Thanks for sharing your issue because I thought it was just me.
