Consumer Rights, and Request for Make-Right Compensation
Dear EA Sports Support Team,
I am submitting a formal complaint regarding a serious technical issue in Madden Ultimate Team that is preventing me from accessing and using players I have invested significant time and money into obtaining through the Most Feared promotion. I am requesting that EA investigate this issue, provide a meaningful resolution, and offer appropriate make-right compensation to affected players.
I have spent well over $1,000 on Madden Ultimate Team this year alone, including nearly $200 specifically on the Most Feared promotion. I have invested substantial time earning players, purchasing players, upgrading them, and building my team around this content. However, when I attempt to click on these players, the game either crashes or returns me to the main menu, and in other instances, I am disconnected from Ultimate Team entirely. This prevents me from properly accessing and using the players I have worked and paid to obtain.
What makes this situation especially frustrating is that I have invested real money into building my team, yet I cannot even reliably use the content I paid for. Meanwhile, the auction-house values of these players continue to decline every day. I am losing in-game value while being prevented from enjoying the gameplay experience I invested in. Most Feared is a limited-time promotion, and every day this issue remains unresolved is another day of content and gameplay opportunities that I cannot get back once the promotion ends.
This is not simply a complaint about player prices fluctuating or being unhappy with a game update. My concern is that a technical failure is preventing me from accessing and using content I spent real money and considerable time obtaining. There is a meaningful difference between normal changes in the Ultimate Team market and being unable to use players because the game is not functioning as intended.
I understand that technical issues can occur, but players who financially support this game should not be left without a reasonable resolution when technical failures significantly interfere with their ability to access and enjoy the content they have acquired. A generic acknowledgment of the issue or a standard troubleshooting response does not adequately address the impact this is having on players who have invested hundreds of dollars into a limited-time promotion.
I also want to raise a concern regarding my consumer rights. EA's published policies acknowledge that consumers may have statutory rights to remedies for faulty digital content, depending on the circumstances and applicable law. I am requesting that EA formally investigate whether this reproducible technical failure constitutes a defect in the content or service I have paid to access and clarify what remedies may be available.
I recognize that virtual player values fluctuate and that compensation is not automatically guaranteed. However, I believe the inability to access or use acquired content because of a technical failure warrants serious consideration, particularly when real money has been spent and the affected promotion is time-limited.
I am formally requesting the following:
- A resolution to the technical issue so that I can access and use my Most Feared players without crashing, returning to the main menu, or being disconnected from Ultimate Team.
- Meaningful make-right compensation that reflects the time, money, and gameplay opportunities affected by this issue. High-value Most Feared packs, player choice packs, coins, or comparable Ultimate Team rewards would be reasonable options for EA to consider.
- A formal review and response addressing the impact on players who have invested real money into this promotion and explaining what EA intends to do to resolve the issue and compensate affected players.
I have supported Madden Ultimate Team financially throughout the year because I enjoy building my team and participating in new promotions. I have spent well over $1,000 this year, with nearly $200 specifically invested in Most Feared. I believe that level of investment, combined with the inability to reliably access the players I obtained, warrants more than a generic response.
I would prefer to resolve this matter directly with EA. However, if a reasonable resolution is not provided, I reserve any consumer rights or remedies available to me under applicable law. If EA determines that compensation or another remedy will not be offered, I request a written explanation of that decision and the applicable policy supporting it.
Please escalate this complaint to the appropriate Madden Ultimate Team development or support team. I am looking for a meaningful response that addresses both the technical failure and my request for make-right compensation, rather than a standard troubleshooting message that does not address the substance of my complaint.
Thank you for your time. I look forward to a fair and timely resolution.
Sincerely,
A Madden Ultimate Team Player
