How to Fix Mass Effect: Andromeda Launch Issues via Steam
Step 1: Open regedit
- Press Windows + R on your keyboard.
- Type regedit and press Enter.
Step 2: Backup the MEA Registry Key
- Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER (oder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE)\Software\BioWare\Mass Effect Andromeda.
- Right-click the Mass Effect Andromeda folder.
- Select Export and save the file as MEA_backup.reg somewhere safe. (This allows you to restore the key if something goes wrong.)
Step 3: Delete the Folder
I noticed that the InstallDir and InstallPath were still pointing to EA Games (or something similiar) instead of Steam's installation location of the game. I assumed this must be the reason why EA Play couldn't detect the new installation on Steam.
- Delete the folder in: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BioWare\Mass Effect Andromeda. (Only the Mass Effect Andromeda folder)
Step 4: Clear EA Play Cache
I'm not sure is this really necessary but at this point I was getting desperate for this game to work... Better safe than sorry I guess.
- Open EA Play
- Clear the cache via settings (if available)
- Close EA Play completely.
Step 5: Verify Steam Game Files
- Open Steam → Library
- Right-click Mass Effect: Andromeda → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files.
- Wait for Steam to finish verifying.
Step 6: Launch the Game
- Finally press Play and it should work <3
