PS4 - NBA Live 14 - Updates download but signed out of EA servers

I recently bought NBA Live 14 off PSN as a digital download.

When I go to "My Profile" the game searches for updates, finds 7, downloads them but then immediately report "You have lost connection with the EA Servers"...

I'm still connected to PSN, my net connection is fine and reports 8Mb download when tested via the PS4.

Have tried the "Live person" help twice, both were USELESS and just said "post it". The second said this before I'd even said what the problem was.

Not happy buying a broken game with this sort of support.
