Why can't I dunk unless I put it on AI control?

Summarize your bug When I try to dunk, I miss at least 1/3 of the time. WTH?
How often does the bug occur? Occasionally (10% - 49%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Play the game and try to dunk.
What happens when the bug occurs? We can all agree that the real NBA players succeed at dunk attempts >90% of the time. When I try to dunk in any mode, there's at least a 30-35% chance I will miss it. When I put in autoplay, they NEVER seem to miss a dunk. The team against me NEVER seems to miss a dunk. What gives? Why are dunks suddenly hard this season? This is really deflating when I manage to get to the rim with no one on me, only to watch a player rated 80+ just whiff it. It's infuriating.
What do you expect to see? Successful dunks when I attempt them. Not much to ask. It worked like this in prior seasons.

FIX THE DUNKING PLEASE! I just want as much chance of succeeding at a dunk as the AI gets.
