I always played with hybrid control and I looked forward for this release because I can't adapt to to the skill stick or total control. But now it is the worst experience I had with any NHL game. I am getting penalties in situations like never before. So far my experience after playing maybe 10 matches in HUT with hybrid control:
I got 3 x 2 minutes for goalkeeper interference at the same time. So 6 minutes penalty kill. And I think I even did not pres any button.
Many times I got interference penalty for nothing, it seems just like I cross the line in which the oponent is skating.
I got many times interference penalty right after face off. The center who was on face off got penalty right after face off.
I did one timer shot and the opponent went right into my player who just shot the puck and I got the penalty for interference.
There was a battle at the board, opponent keep my player at the board and I got 2 minutes for holding.
It is really crazy. Last version I played was '21, before I played '19 and '17. In those games when I got penalty, I exactly know what I did and it was my fault. In this new game most of the penalties are total nonsense.
And the next thing are hits. If you do not press the hit button at the right time, the player make a crazy move to the side and opponent can go straight forward with no other effort. I know it was presented that the timing is important, but why that crazy move to the side? it is like he jump 2 meters. Where did you see this in real hockey?
i have the same issue with penalties. Im 32 games in on Franchise Mode. I lead the league in PIM by a mile. No other team in the league is even close.

Bring the first three CPU skater slider settings to at least 40 or above. It still happens but you'll find that the interference penalties will happen less.
