Now when we know something about NHL 24. We beginning wait next big reveal and it's, which are the new alumni players in NHL 24. EA Sports added these new alumni player to the NHL 23. Goalies Mar...
I wish for so many years to get actual retro teams! My Penguins from 2008-2009, Blackhawks from 2010, older 70’s Bruins and Canadiens and much more.
The issue with this : Licensing! In NBA 2K there are 13-14 players per team and most of the time, 7 are generic ones. Now imagine NHL with 23 to 25 players. You also need to have different versions of every player to match the accurate ratings, no more Mike Modano 90 overall in Detroit for example.
I speak from experience, creating rosters. Even on 2014 or 2016 rosters I miss 6-7 sometimes 10 players I have to create. As much as I want it, I know it’s a huge work to put in place. I highly doubt devs would do it.
Realistically:
50 max players roster instead of 35 would be a huge step forward.
Updated face scans for many many players. I mentioned the Sedin is a good example of an old 10 years scan.
New face scans the current alumni rosters! Guerin, Langenbrunner, Maurice Richard and 100+ more. I create a different Bill Guerin because I feel the actual one doesn’t look like him at all. Same goes for many players. It’s sad that I can create in 5 min a better version of the player than the generic one they give us.
Different versions of each player ! Not 1 Shea Weber at 70 rating in the Nashville Alumni because of the Arizona one would be great!
I mention in my NHL25 wishlist post ideas for creation suite, such as retro gear, create helmetless players, editing current generated players! If I could switch things up for players that don’t have an actual face scan, that would be marvellous!
I published this alumni players wishlist, before than EA Sports revealed the new alumni players to the NHL 24 game. This list included 85 names and 10 of those names was found on the list, which EA Sports published. Later EA Sports has added Bobby Orr to game.
I dived world of alumni players and found lot of interesting facts. Officially alumni players arrived to NHL 19, but in this post I process time since from NHL20 forward. As we all know, all NHL teams except Vegas and Seattle got their own alumni team to the game in NHL 20. Also three former NHL teams Hartford Whalers, Minnesota North Stars and Quebec Nordiques got their own alumni team to the game.
We have had total 669 players in alumni teams. Of these players EA Sports has remove 13 players from alumni teams and three of these players Kyle Brodziak, Jaromír Jágr and Jason Pominville has been added back to the game. Brodziak not been in NHL 21, but EA Sports added him back to the NHL 22. Jágr not been in NHL 21 and NHL 22, but EA Sports added him back to NHL 23. Pominville not been in NHL 23, but EA Sports added him back to NHL 24. Here is players, which EA Sports has not added back to the alumni teams, after they are removed from alumni teams. In parentheses are the games where the player has been in the alumni teams.
Jason Spezza (NHL 20)
Patric Hörnqvist (NHL 20)
Pavel Datsyuk (NHL 20)
Tyler Weiman (NHL 20 - NHL 21)
Wendell Young (NHL 20 - NHL 21)
Guy Lafleur (NHL 20 - NHL 21)
Ryan Johansen (NHL 20 - NHL 21)
Mike Condon (NHL 20 - NHL 22)
Cam Neely (NHL 20 - NHL 22)
James Neal ( NHL 20 - NHL 23)
These 669 players represent fourteen different nationality. We have players from Austria, Canada, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Russia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Sweden, Ukraine and USA on alumni teams. It's strange, that we have alumni players from Lithuania and Ukraine, but not any alumni players from Latvia or Belarus. When we looking NHL players, which come from Latvia, there is names like Artūrs Irbe and Sandis Ozoliņš. Irbe has played 619 games in NHL and Ozoliņš has played 1012 games. The reason may be in licences, why this latvian duo hasn't been yet in the game.
