Can’t invite cross platform friend

I have Ps5 and he has Xbox x. When we both go to invite it says that we cant. Can someone help?

@DonHaubs 

Is this also enabled in your Xbox settings as well as your friend's PS5 settings? On Xbox, you can do this at Privacy & online safety > View details & customize > Communication & multiplayer > You can join cross-network play. Set this to Allow.

I haven't found official instructions on this for PlayStation, but there are some steps that come up if you google it.

    @DonHaubs 

    Thanks for verifying that. Are both of you getting this error no matter which one invites? What exactly is the error? Also, both of you should check your NAT settings. It should be open or moderate for Xbox and Type 1 or Type 2 for PlayStation.
