@Treatmentworke66They probably saw how horrible EA UFC's discord is (regular users banned for accurately criticizing the game, spam of offensive trolling & poor communication between mods & userbase) and ruled against it.
Anyone pretending the discord would accomplish **any** different than this forum is foolishly mistaken
As an aside, what happened to polls? How come they weren't used for feedback regarding the game? 🤔
- KlariskraysNHL2 years agoHero@RatedxPGxEnigma Lots of times Polls are used for trolling. If you saw some of the Steam Game Awards you can tell some of the winners were because of troll results. Sadly people not taking them all seriously is a problem. I said from the get go the discord would be a bad idea because it would be filled with hate talk and people angry they aren't getting the answers/results they want.

I'm not sure how much trolling would be done if EA controls the question/ selections. Is it that hard to do:
"What area of the game do you want to see us improve next?"
A. Gameplay
B. Presentation
C. HUT Packs
D. Game Modes
Then not only would the community get involved, but we'd all be actively working on making the game better!
Its true there was a lot of discord trolling, but there were alot more issues between the moderation team dealing with game criticism (sounds familiar). They banned a content creator from it after he reported a bug to them. That's just UFC so I can only imagine how much worse it would've been w/ NHL. Again, it's not like it matters cause it's not like the developers have any less access to using these forums as if it was discord.
- KlariskraysNHL2 years agoHero@RatedxPGxEnigma Here is an other thing to think about. People can create more than 1 account and vote. That is a form of trolling. Also they take feedback from not only these forums, but Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, etc. You can just vote at each place also.
Also if it's me seeing a question like that it doesn't instill confidence they know what direction they want to take the game. They hinted plenty at the early year interviews. I'm expecting a new off/online mode in the next year or 2.

As someone who frequents the UFC discord, I can confirm this is not happening at all.
The problem is with the ego of your typical gamer - especially competitive games like UFC/NHL. Users can have legitimate gripes, but they quickly divulge into hate-filled discourse at ANY suggestion they may be interpreting the mechanics or gameplay improperly. The similarities in users from UFC and NHL is astounding; there are people in the UFC discord that "know fighting" and insist the developers don't because of some small misunderstanding about the game mechanics. It's almost as if competitive games bring out the worst in people. Who would've thought.
I'm sure EA doesn't see any added value in moderating a discord for NHL that will ultimately see the same fate.

Hey, everyone. I'm looking into this myself. I'll let you all know when I have an update.
- 2 years ago@EA_Aljo From a source the discord was created but not ready apparently as Clappy made the first message on August 18th, 2023 around 6:42pm stating they are clearing things up before they open the doors? I'm very familiar with discord myself as I have my own with all the bells and whistles. It took me a day to build so kind of wondering what more needs to be done before it gets released? The communication from stuff like this is non-existent even to their own EA community team?
