When I play drop-in with a friend or two, we invited each other in a Game Party, and then we start the "Finding Opponents" search. Once we find a teamate through search, it kicks us all out of the Game Party and are then forced to dashboard the game and restart. It does this pretty much 4 out of 5 times when you're trying to search for a game with more than 1 person.
PS: I also posted this in the "Technical Issues" tab so it could be seen faster, and hopefully fixed.
@Tigidooh Yeah, I figured that one out after a couple of times it happened... But I would rather EA fix the issue so that I can actually play with my friends when they come online. Now we're pretty much forced to say 1-2-3-Go and search individually and hope we land in the same game lol... just another wonderful year, and another wonderful game.
@xSEBBYx13xOHH I know that, I play with a friend too and literally the first 5 games (attempted to play) we played last night turned into my friend getting locked behind.
I was just telling you in case you wouldnt have know about this little trick to get out of it.
I really hope they come up with a patch asap. ✌

Is this happening in club or drop-in games? If you're playing club matches, do you have the filters for allowing drop-in players active? Also, are all of you on the same console version of the game or is it a mix of Xbox and PS?
@EA_Aljo It's in drop-in. I join a lobby, then my friends join me (i'm on xbox, and they are on xbox as well). The search is set to "Location: Relaxed", and the "Allow Club Fill" is set to No. Then when I press A to start Matchmaking, it will say "Searching for Teammates" with a counter. Once it finds Teammates, it will bring in the Teammates in my Lobby, but my friends that were with me when I started searching gets kicked out & their game locks/freezes them there where they have to dashboard the game and restart it. It doesn't do it all the time, but I would say that it does it about 8 out of 10 times, which is a tad annoying.

@EA_Aljo I have clipped 2 versions of the issue. Files were too big to add in the reply box, so I posted them on a site (Streamable) and will include both links in here. The first one is when I am the Room Leader, hosting the game with my friend. And the 2nd video is when my friend is the Room Leader, hosting the game. As you can see, the Room Leader always makes it in, and the others get dropped back to main menu.

Everything you said is happening to me!!
I have yet to play a game with my friends. We are a mix of ps and xbox owners. We spend about 30 mins trying to drop into a game. It never works. And we end up turning the game off and play something else.
also why the heck is there no cross play in versus mode. Its the only mode i like.
nhl24 is an Absolute joke of a video game. Everything else EA is good... then theres NHL
