Dumping the puck
What's the deal with the difficulty introduced this year with something as simple as dumping the puck? I mean, it's always been problematic, but this year, it's ridiculous that half the time your ska...

They nerfed it on purpose to curb people spamming delay of game penalties. They always use these bandaid fixes rather than have a system in place to detect and boot people for abusing it.
I don't know where we said this was the reason. Regardless, I would love to see it addressed as well and will pass on the feedback. The team is aware of it though.

You guys make significant changes like this without explanation, of course people will then make assumptions in regards to the "why" behind the "what"
Maybe you can provide us with some of the discussion that took place regarding the mechanic and the change or request an official statement on it?
No matter what we say, people are going to come up with their own opinions that they believe are real. I definitely agree we need to explain things better though and we've also made the pledge that we're going to do a better job of that. More details are coming. We're going to have to wait until the game fully launches. We also aren't going to announce any update details until we are absolutely sure it's coming. It's always possible something can come up in the final moments that cause a delay. So, rather than announce something and pull it back, which then upsets the community, we'll wait until we have confirmation and then make the announcement.
Regardless of people's options, the flip has been restricted. In 23, the longer you held the button, the further and higher it would go.
@stattimanThey nerfed the puck flip to ensure that you can rag the puck so the pressure mechanics works as intended, so they basically favor the game more towards the offense, thus creating puck ragging, and making for toxic game play
Another thing.
Every single time you pass the puck, it brings up these buttons that you CANT turn off. Along with this obnoxious beep sound.
Every. Single. Time.
Guys, several people saw this. Designed it. Reviewed it. And thought it was a good idea. It’s utter insanity. I just wanna make a pass. I just want to dump the puck in. I want a game that resembles the sport I like. I have no idea what this is anymore. If you’re an offline player like me and you’re reading this before having bought the game, I highly recommend you download the trial first. Maybe these things won’t bother you. But offline simulation is clearly a thing of the past.
Part of the reason dumps were changed is that the previous functionality would make it too easy to evade the pressure system. We also had a lot of requests for making it easier to dump the puck off the glass so this was intended to help with that. Keep in mind, the first couple of weeks are always a period of adjustment. It's very possible we will all adapt and not have a problem clearing. We need to let everyone settle in to the new game before big changes are made. However, this is on the list of potential tweaks so it's possible that could happen.

The fact that they designed dumps to look this way, on purpose, and then left it in the game… is laugh out loud funny. Imagine working all year on this game and then showcasing it to a real life hockey player— and then that player has to be like “Wow… that’s… really cool. Good job buddy.” Like it’s some stupid macaroni picture.
I am completely dumbfounded, not just by this decision, but by the attitude towards this sentiment. Of course these people work very hard on this game; of course they love the sport; and of course they want us to be happy. But how am I supposed to react when something so integral to the game gets reduced to a weak little fart? How am I supposed to take any of it seriously when they worked so hard all year— while I impatiently waited, excited— just to see something so bananas crazy?
Imagine instead if it had been a slapshot? And the puck just gave a limp squirt like these dumps? I don’t understand. How does this get designed and then survive rounds of testing and review?? Is it an oversight, or intentional?
I’m not trying to hate. I love the games. I love the sport. And I know many people work very hard to make it happen. That’s precisely why I’m so frustrated. Because this is certainly not the only obvious hockey issue in the game.
All I can say is AMEN 🙏
I also use the HIGH dump in 23, when in my zone as a D sometimes to throw a "long bomb" to one of my forwards leaving the zone early… You should see the smile on my face when it connects 😀
Brings so much to the game, the freedom, the organically ways of making a play without barriers. When I say this, it’s because the idea of Follisimo is not a bad one per say, but it will put another stick in your wheels… Now where am I on the ice ? Am I the spot where I’m gonna blooop a fart or am I good here ?
The way it is for the user now in 23 is perfect. The longer you hold it, the higher it goes, the shorter time you press the button, it goes for a softer/lower dump… Organically !
