The fact that they designed dumps to look this way, on purpose, and then left it in the game… is laugh out loud funny. Imagine working all year on this game and then showcasing it to a real life hockey player— and then that player has to be like “Wow… that’s… really cool. Good job buddy.” Like it’s some stupid macaroni picture.
I am completely dumbfounded, not just by this decision, but by the attitude towards this sentiment. Of course these people work very hard on this game; of course they love the sport; and of course they want us to be happy. But how am I supposed to react when something so integral to the game gets reduced to a weak little fart? How am I supposed to take any of it seriously when they worked so hard all year— while I impatiently waited, excited— just to see something so bananas crazy?
Imagine instead if it had been a slapshot? And the puck just gave a limp squirt like these dumps? I don’t understand. How does this get designed and then survive rounds of testing and review?? Is it an oversight, or intentional?
I’m not trying to hate. I love the games. I love the sport. And I know many people work very hard to make it happen. That’s precisely why I’m so frustrated. Because this is certainly not the only obvious hockey issue in the game.

Another thing.
Every single time you pass the puck, it brings up these buttons that you CANT turn off. Along with this obnoxious beep sound.
Every. Single. Time.
Guys, several people saw this. Designed it. Reviewed it. And thought it was a good idea. It’s utter insanity. I just wanna make a pass. I just want to dump the puck in. I want a game that resembles the sport I like. I have no idea what this is anymore. If you’re an offline player like me and you’re reading this before having bought the game, I highly recommend you download the trial first. Maybe these things won’t bother you. But offline simulation is clearly a thing of the past.

Part of the reason dumps were changed is that the previous functionality would make it too easy to evade the pressure system. We also had a lot of requests for making it easier to dump the puck off the glass so this was intended to help with that. Keep in mind, the first couple of weeks are always a period of adjustment. It's very possible we will all adapt and not have a problem clearing. We need to let everyone settle in to the new game before big changes are made. However, this is on the list of potential tweaks so it's possible that could happen.
@EA_Aljo I'm surprised this was changed just to accommodate the pressure system. This just cripples defense even more, especially on the penalty kill. I thought the pressure system rewarded puck control and shots in the zone? If you lose control of the puck on the power play, why should the defending team be penalized for that? In the NHL, this is something players can do quite easily, and quickly, even if they are on a long shift, it is crucial for those players as well to quell the pressure of the attacking team on the PK.
Taking this out for this reason, to make offense easier, is an odd decision. Defensive tools need to stop being nerfed while offense gets boosted every year. Offense gets one button dekes, defense gets a modification to checking and a limp dump. Whether we adjust or not, if you have a computer player, they have the same problem, and most times it results in a turn over. I'm glad the team is aware of it and hopefully there is a fix for this. We shouldn't have to charge up for a few seconds to dump the puck.

So you added the pressure system to make good defensive play even more difficult, then took away a tool for the defense to deal with it. Why does EA insist on make offense easier and easier every year and defense harder and harder? Hockey isn't just about offense.

- @EA_Aljo Why would anyone have a problem with making it easy for dumps to evade the pressure system? That’s a tool cpu D and human D should utilize. Easy clears. As of now it’s more difficult than it should be obviously but even in past games D men already had limited options and tools to quickly maneuver and execute proper D. You can be really good but as D men we are always striving for perfection.
Using PS5 terms, just make the high flip be R1+stick and the low flip be R2+stick. This is the best idea.
