Faster low rated player
@EA_Aljo: here's a good example of a lower rated player that is faster than a high rated player. https://youtu.be/F_xaHb0nte0 Jason Dickinson catch up Nikita Kutcherov. Too bad the recording doesn...
Here is my 2 cents in this…. This video is from NHL23, but since I replicated the speed of NHL players in my SETUP, I wanted to make sure the players speed were taken into effect in a race with all the same conditions 😀
So a race between CHIAROT (Upper Screen) 83 Speed and 83 Acceleration
VS
LARKIN (Lower Screen) 93 Speed and 93 Acceleration
I tried to my best abilities to skate in a straight line with the puck, without activating turbo… So basically, all the inputs and playing field were the same.
Ah, the eternal mystery of player speed. EA's never been entirely forthcoming in regards to the skating mechanics in the game and their relation to player attributes. I posted a video comparing two power forwards racing in different scenarios back when NHL 22 was out along with some questions about how things worked. Thread here . It's a couple of years old but I doubt it's any less relevant now.
EA_Aljo did his best to answer some of the questions but we never did get a satisfactory resolution to things IMO.

@PlayoffErrorLet's also remember that having the puck also slows you down slightly with some friction. Back in 23 we remedied this with the self saucer pass to bypass the penalty. I've never been much of a fan of the catchup ability when a player is straight lining.
There is a tuner for Puck Carrier Agility and Skating. So a 93 speed skater might be knocked down to say 88 or whatever speed with the puck. In real life there isn't a huge difference from a player skating with the puck and without going in a straight line.
Exactly. In today’s NHL guys are not really slowed down by that much when skating with the puck. The puck carrier speed is set at 95% in my setup. So a guy like Larkin that has a 93 Speed, would be skating at a 88-89 clip. Very important when a player catches the D flat footed to go on a break 😀
I wonder what it is online 🤔
