@RicochetII
Posting this here for conso...
Thanks. The new forums will also continue to expand their feature set over time. They're obviously pretty new. You're always welcome to provide feedback on them.
Thanks for all the feedback on this. I'll see if I can do better about consolidating. Speaking of, this doesn't really belong in this thread so I'll move it to it's own.
You can already tag others with the @ symbol. What kind of filter system would you like?
As far as using AI goes to generate a synopsis, I'll look in to that.
I guess by tagging I mean tagging categories or topics. I don’t know how the system would work exactly, so sorry it’s kind of a half-baked suggestion.
Maybe it could work where posters could select from a moderator-curated list of tags/topics/categories and add any relevant tag to their post (subject to being edited by moderators). Then when browsing conversations, moderators and players alike could filter through the conversations by selecting tags they’re interested in.
For example:
Post: “I am experiencing issues with the mechanics of the game in this defensive situation.”
Post: “I think it would be cool if the visuals of this part of the game would look something like this.”
Tags: #Presentation #Suggestions
Post: “How do you do a drop pass?”
Tags: #Offense #Passing #Advice #Controls
This way, as a moderator or player, you can reduce the clutter from your browsing experience.
For example, let’s say I want to see what other people are having problems with as far as controls go. I could filter out the conversations by selecting #Controls. Then, I could narrow it further and select #Offense so that I’m only looking at conversations involving offensive controls.
Right now, the search bar attempts to make suggestions (same when you create a new post). However, because people aren’t very clear about their issue/suggestion in the title bar of their post, it’s often times hard to see relevant posts.
As much as I’d like this feature for players, I think it’d ultimately be most useful for moderators. It would give you guys an easy way to filter conversations so that you can more easily consolidate them into single threads. In turn, this would help players add to existing conversations rather than starting a new thread about something that’s already being talked about. Ultimately, by keeping complaints/suggestions from being scattered throughout the forum, this would help the EA NHL team see which issues/suggestions are getting the most attention from the community, which would help the team prioritize accordingly.
Also, in an effort to get even more feedback from the community, the “Help” page (that you can find at the bottom of the screen on the Home Screen of the game) should be accessible from anywhere in the game. Maybe have it “float” so that it remains on every screen (with the exception of actual gameplay).
And when players do click it, it should display a QR Code linking them to the forum (many of us gamers are probably too lazy to type in the web address). The current page wastes a lot of space with a whole lot of nothing:
It would also be worthwhile to incentivize people to provide feedback so your team could get even more insight into the wants and needs of your customers. Maybe you could offer Chel Coins or unlockables or anything like that.
