I only play 5s so AI goalies for me. But they need to make the easy saves. And when the puck is in the crease or under them or whatever... just cover it. Dont kick it in or whatever.
Had one where he was sitting on it. Instead of doing the "closed legs sit on puck animation" he decided to try and get up which kicked the puck in.
What's weird to me is how it feels like the puck physics almost change once a shot's been taken. Like, when the skaters are passing the puck around, shooting for rebounds, or stickhandling back and forth, it's as if the puck's glued to a predetermined course. But, once the puck hits the goalie in the chest, all of a sudden the puck starts bouncing around like flubber.

This is the kind of frustrating bounce I'm talking about. Harmless wrister from near the corner. Simple save. What happens? Puck hits my goalie, bounces around my equipment, gets knocked in by my own goalie.
This is why nobody likes this game.
I understand that bad bounces happen, I understand that sometimes clean shots from non danger areas go in. My issue is when it's happening a ton. Why is my goalie dropping to the butterfly on a wrist from the point that's going high corner.? Things like that

Thanks for gathering all those clips. I agree that goalies can be frustrating. Especially when they take too long to get back up. I know the team is aware of this feedback.

For the record I appreciate the constant tweaks the team is making. They seem more engaged than in years past. But if they could stop breaking a section of the game while fixing another section.... that'd be great

Our goalie showboating a bit for the fans. 3 desperation saves triggered from full stamina off a shot that never even got through originally. The lack of composure from goalies is all over the map right now, this sort of behavior near full stamina shouldn't be as common as it is right now.
Something I actually want to put out there - I'm not sure what's going on this year, but goaltenders CANNOT corral pucks in their torso area for their life. You shoot a puck, they make the save, but if that save is NOT a glove save AND the puck didn't get redirected by the goalie to a different area of the ice, the goalie will try to cover it (since the puck didn't move away from them after the shot). When they go to cover it, 95% of the time the puck will FLING away from them, as the goalie will hit the puck with something else before getting to actually cover it with the trapper.

don't know if anyone else has noticed this but when the goalie goes down, they always open up their five hole and pucks just slide in. The amount of goals that I've seen resulting from this is just insane. This has been from day 1. Goalies are tuned to rob you on cross creases and backhand forehand breakaways but throw a weak shot at the net and all hell breaks loose. The puck hits the goalie and they can't control it resulting in a rebound, own goal or unexplainable things. Very frustrating!
- @Nammer604 You're not alone. Over the last couple of years I've posted several clips of the issues goalies have on what should be trivial shots or how they handle loose pucks around the net.
More and more it feels like close games aren't decided, win or lose, by which team makes a mistake or a great play. They're decided by which team benefits from the wonky game mechanics, especially goalies. And it's not "frozen water slant", it's just random. It makes a lot of games feel unrewarding even when you win.
But there's little we as players can do other than continue to point out instances where the game doesn't appear to be working correctly and hope the developers will take note and continue to improve things.

Skater throws a simple wrister on net from the far boards. Simplest, easiest save in the world. My goalie hits the puck with his glove, bounces the puck off his blocker, puck archs over my goalie, bounces off my back and into the net.
I'm sick and tired of this garbage game. I won't be returning for NHL 25. Hire some developers who are worth their paycheck.
- These kinds of goals are the absolute heartbreakers in online versus. You keep a trash opponent to the outside all game and all he can do is throw wristers on the net from the boards and what happens? Eventually, he gets rewarded with stuff like this. Sometimes, goals like this can be the difference between winning and losing and THAT is the most frustrating part.
These were all from a six game span earlier in the week.
First the most "forgivable" goal. It could be argued the goalie was screened until the top of the circle, but it's a nothing shot from far out and the goalie is swatting at flies.
An unscreened wrist shot from just inside the blue line and the shooter is drifting away from the net so he's shooting against his own momentum. It wasn't the game winner, but we did lose this game by one.
And finally a game-winning OT goal. I'm not even trying to score here, just getting rid of the puck to make sure I don't turn it over and give the other team a break. Best case scenario is the AI by the net could play a rebound if one happens. Nope. Goalie just wiffs. It's these kinds of goals that just ruin games. We won, but there's little satisfaction when the win comes because the other team lost the "bad game mechanics" coin flip.
These are great. Keep posting them guys. I always tend to record the dumb things that happen in this game, and goalies giving up some of the worst shots for no reason are the bulk of them. When I start to get them ready to post I remember that things like this usually fall on deaf ears.
That OT winner that was posted, I scored one just like that last night in the last seasons of a period from near the blue line unscreened.
Goalies are worse than they've ever been. The amount of stupid bounces, goalies knocking pucks in, etc. This game is astoundingly bad in every way.
