Hitting acceleration reverted today 2/5

My father hasn't played since NHL 2001 (even then I whopped his butt like 24-0), so I have no doubt he wouldn't know what to do if he went to the kiosk. My 6yo nephew plays NHL 17 with '94 controls, I'm sure he would get pretty frustrated playing '24 too.

These aren't meant for NHL: The videogame ™ hardcores (lol why would someone used to thr game wanna play it in public?) - they're meant for general hockey fans to experience something new. That all said, I definitely agree the controls should be even just slightly easier for green players to pick up.

Why @EA_Aljo u have to ruin this game whit the arcade hitting? That speed boost is so stupid and bad. I have played this nhl games for years and i know how to play this game but the point is this is not fun. So So arcade and no one is enjoying this. I have talk about this for many people and they all say the same. Pressure system was good fix when u took that douwn but the hitting needs to be fix please. No More acceleration /speed boost.

Exactly. Provide simple one-button pass/shoot/hit mechanics for the layperson while still providing advanced controls. 

I'd also suggest eliminating the on-ice trainer entirely by default. Let people turn it on if they need assistance. In my experience with new players, the distraction from the on-ice trainer barking instructions and such contributes to confusion over the controls.

We removed the speed boost, but the community was very upset about it. So, it seems there are a lot of people enjoying this.

If this is true, than I really don't want to know what next game will look like :D There are lot of people who are upset with this hitting nonsense ..

Maybe there is no need to remove speedbost completely. After january tuner the gameplay was just fine even with speedboost. So maybe some balance?

Also as I mentioned earlier in online play total controls players are in obvious advance with this speedboost compared to skill stick players now. So maybe some fair play?

Last patch just messed up whole game (goalies sucks more, more glitch moves and goals ...).

There shouldn't be a speed up or slow down to the hitting mechanics in general. NHL 23 hitting was fine if they toned it down a bit. We these mechanics I don't think there is a fix. Who knows maybe they can find a balance. This game would be great if it had 23 hitting. 

I liked the slower gameplay with the tuner that killed hitting, I think they should have tried an aim assist to it before reversing it and if that didn't work just chalk it up and reverse it back.

I use more reverse hitting than regular hitting, for one ,and I'm  not a button guy and two I found that hitting this year puts you out of position more than it should when using skill stick ,just MY Opinion 

  This guy all he did was run my players and he only got one penalty and was for tripping

It's terrible animations and very ugly to watch. It's like some invisible push they are attempting. And sometimes you clip a leg with the awful timing mechanic and the player goes flying or other times you line up a guy perfectly only for him to skate right by you lol. 

They basically took away the satisfaction of lining up a nice hit. People just skate straight at you because it's a 50/50 chance the hit works. Beginning of the game was too overpowered but it forced players to cut and be more cautious entering the zone.

Yes the hitting animation is a big joke . It looks and feels very stupid and unrealistic

Why don’t some of you head into practice mode and get the hang of it?

It’s not hard to grasp. Maybe it’s not perfect. But many of us have moved on and adapted. Once you get the hang of hitting, it’s actually quite satisfying. I’m not a fan of the acceleration into the hit animation, but the majority is and many of us have adjusted our game to adapt.

no doubt it’ll be tweaked more, maybe via tuner or in ‘25.

HUT is garbage and should never be expected to represent the game in the most realistic manner. Ever.

Theres a reason Eki and many other sweats only play HUT - it’s the easiest mode to exploit everything about this game.

When hitting got killed you said many liked the change and you told another person that didn't like it that they were the "minority" and yet it got changed back. 

At what point do you say to yourself maybe I don't know what I'm talking about?
