There shouldn't be a speed up or slow down to the hitting mechanics in general. NHL 23 hitting was fine if they toned it down a bit. We these mechanics I don't think there is a fix. Who knows maybe they can find a balance. This game would be great if it had 23 hitting.
I liked the slower gameplay with the tuner that killed hitting, I think they should have tried an aim assist to it before reversing it and if that didn't work just chalk it up and reverse it back.

I use more reverse hitting than regular hitting, for one ,and I'm not a button guy and two I found that hitting this year puts you out of position more than it should when using skill stick ,just MY Opinion
This guy all he did was run my players and he only got one penalty and was for tripping

@phomi99@EA_Aljoyes in nhl 23 hitting was fine. But now hitting is too much and un realisticIt's terrible animations and very ugly to watch. It's like some invisible push they are attempting. And sometimes you clip a leg with the awful timing mechanic and the player goes flying or other times you line up a guy perfectly only for him to skate right by you lol.
They basically took away the satisfaction of lining up a nice hit. People just skate straight at you because it's a 50/50 chance the hit works. Beginning of the game was too overpowered but it forced players to cut and be more cautious entering the zone.

Yes the hitting animation is a big joke . It looks and feels very stupid and unrealistic

Why don’t some of you head into practice mode and get the hang of it?
It’s not hard to grasp. Maybe it’s not perfect. But many of us have moved on and adapted. Once you get the hang of hitting, it’s actually quite satisfying. I’m not a fan of the acceleration into the hit animation, but the majority is and many of us have adjusted our game to adapt.
no doubt it’ll be tweaked more, maybe via tuner or in ‘25.
- Jutila222 years agoNew Hotshot@KidShowtime1867 Dude i play 1div in hut so i know how to play the game..
Point is this is not fun to play and so un realistic. Majority people is not adjusted the game. Its 50/50 what people are likeing or not this game and hitting. - Jutila222 years agoNew Hotshot@KidShowtime1867 Mayde u like this arcade ultimate hitting game but not everybody. This game rewards players whos just hit all the time, shoot the puck everywhere no skill needed.
Eki sayed good todays stream " i wish this gameplay have more hockey iq then just hit, skate and shoot everywhere" - KidShowtime18672 years agoHero

Eki sayed good todays stream " i wish this gameplay have more hockey iq then just hit, skate and shoot everywhere"HUT is garbage and should never be expected to represent the game in the most realistic manner. Ever.
Theres a reason Eki and many other sweats only play HUT - it’s the easiest mode to exploit everything about this game.
- Jutila222 years agoNew Hotshot@KidShowtime1867 Omg the reason is tournaments and competitive. Best players play in hut. Hut is by faaar most fun gameMode. But hey thats my opinion

When hitting got killed you said many liked the change and you told another person that didn't like it that they were the "minority" and yet it got changed back.
At what point do you say to yourself maybe I don't know what I'm talking about?

Why are you being so rude? We’re just discussing subtle changes to a video game we all share an interest in. I make suggestions to help people get better and I really enjoy dissecting clips and people’s problems with the game in an effort to maybe give people a better understanding.
I still think those of us who appreciate a more simulation experience across all competitive and offline modes didn’t welcome the changes at first because there was already such a fundamental change to begin the year with. But after a couple of play sessions it was clear that people who leaned on the unrealistic explosiveness of the new hitting mechanic were getting exposed for doing so.And it was clear many players were leaning on this defensively because you could see your opponent throwing hits and expecting to make contact, only for me to blow by them.
In turn, once you learned you needed to get closer to make contact and learn to time your hits better, opponents expecting you to misfire on a hit were suddenly met with a player closing the gap and getting better positioning for a disruptive stick check or well placed shove.
I have a suspicion the timing of the change had too much of an affect on upcoming NHL-Sponsored events and maybe there was some feedback given to EA directly from the NHL by way of their own feedback channels.
In any case, I hope a common ground can be found when it comes to the acceleration into a hit and how much it can be a crutch. - phomi992 years agoSeasoned Veteran

You're not gonna like me for bringing this up but how do you allow 12 goals against??? Most I've had is 6 and that was during Michigan glitch time.
- Janikka2 years agoSeasoned Traveler
@KidShowtime1867 Just to correct a glaring factual error, Eki does not play HUT exclusively. He plays a lot of 6s and participates in all the 6s leagues and tournaments in the European scene excluding a few country-specific leagues. He's consistently one of the top players in 6s on this side of the pond.

My only big gripe about hitting is always the fact that, for me personally I am a dangler. I love deking in the game and think it is very intricate when you get down to it. However, when I dangle a body checker, I don't want them to be able to block the movement of the puck while they are in this hitting animation. I have had too many times to count where I beat the guy but the puck bounces off the players stick as they are trying to hip check me or when I deke someone only for the game to track which direction I am planning to go to and the body checker is just holding down on the stick and letting the game correct his movements to hit me. When the change was implemented, I found it much more possible in that brief time, to deke players that were actually trying to body check you, which is how dangling should be to some extent. Things like the chip deke are near impossible to use because you separate yourself from the puck but the player is holding down the check button and either blocks the puck being chipped with his body while animating to hit you or is tracking your guy with ease thanks to the assist. I just felt with the change, dangling became more usable and punishing to those caught out of position trying to check me.

Detach Charge Hiting immediately. But immediately. Are you kidding normal NHL players? If the players don't know how to defend in the game, let them learn, but this is absolute *. So patch quickly and detach charge hit immediately!!!
- kennyjames212 years agoSeasoned Scout
I've been following eki for the past few years - and for those who think hitting in a hockey game is 'unrealistic' the * eki pulls off is actually unrealistic. He routinely makes passing plays that you will NEVER see in real hockey. If realism is the goal, then EA should work on improving defensive abilities, not nerfing them like nerfing hitting, especially when hitting is as an essential ingedient to hockey as cheese is to macaroni and cheese. If you have a cheese allergy don't eat mac n cheese and if you don't like hitting don't play a hockey game. The nerf to hitting was ridiculous, hense the massive negative feedback and speedy reversal.
This is not a slam on eki, hes a great player and seems to be a good dude, im just replying to the argument that the current hitting is unrealistic while players can make ridiculous skating moves and pass the puck through three sticks for a goal, or where just because the puck is in your zone for a few seconds all of your defensive players become slow zombies auditioning for the three stooges, and all-world players like mcdavid are completely gassed in a minute of ice time. If realism is the goal, hitting is way down the list of unrealisric stuff in this game. The people who have a problem with hitting are the ice dancers and obi wan kenobi passers and they really arent concerned about realism they just want to play no touch peewee hockey. Skill players in hickey hate hitting too, but its part of hockey anyway. One of the reasons the all star game is so unliked is because there is no physical play. If you think this game is a ghost town now, follow thier advice and it will get a lot more sparce.
- KlariskraysNHL2 years agoHero+@kennyjames21 To be fair Ultimate Team is meant to be the farthest thing from realism as possible with all players getting insane overalls. When it comes to online play the closest thing is Online Versus play but even then the talented people can still do unrealistic things, because the game isn't advertised as a true simulation experience. At best it's 70% realism with 30% arcade sprinkled in places.
