Why don’t some of you head into practice mode and get the hang of it?
It’s not hard to grasp. Maybe it’s not perfect. But many of us have moved on and adapted. Once you get the hang of hitting, it’s actually quite satisfying. I’m not a fan of the acceleration into the hit animation, but the majority is and many of us have adjusted our game to adapt.
no doubt it’ll be tweaked more, maybe via tuner or in ‘25.

When hitting got killed you said many liked the change and you told another person that didn't like it that they were the "minority" and yet it got changed back.
At what point do you say to yourself maybe I don't know what I'm talking about?

Why are you being so rude? We’re just discussing subtle changes to a video game we all share an interest in. I make suggestions to help people get better and I really enjoy dissecting clips and people’s problems with the game in an effort to maybe give people a better understanding.
I still think those of us who appreciate a more simulation experience across all competitive and offline modes didn’t welcome the changes at first because there was already such a fundamental change to begin the year with. But after a couple of play sessions it was clear that people who leaned on the unrealistic explosiveness of the new hitting mechanic were getting exposed for doing so.And it was clear many players were leaning on this defensively because you could see your opponent throwing hits and expecting to make contact, only for me to blow by them.
In turn, once you learned you needed to get closer to make contact and learn to time your hits better, opponents expecting you to misfire on a hit were suddenly met with a player closing the gap and getting better positioning for a disruptive stick check or well placed shove.
I have a suspicion the timing of the change had too much of an affect on upcoming NHL-Sponsored events and maybe there was some feedback given to EA directly from the NHL by way of their own feedback channels.
In any case, I hope a common ground can be found when it comes to the acceleration into a hit and how much it can be a crutch. - phomi992 years agoSeasoned Veteran

You're not gonna like me for bringing this up but how do you allow 12 goals against??? Most I've had is 6 and that was during Michigan glitch time.

My only big gripe about hitting is always the fact that, for me personally I am a dangler. I love deking in the game and think it is very intricate when you get down to it. However, when I dangle a body checker, I don't want them to be able to block the movement of the puck while they are in this hitting animation. I have had too many times to count where I beat the guy but the puck bounces off the players stick as they are trying to hip check me or when I deke someone only for the game to track which direction I am planning to go to and the body checker is just holding down on the stick and letting the game correct his movements to hit me. When the change was implemented, I found it much more possible in that brief time, to deke players that were actually trying to body check you, which is how dangling should be to some extent. Things like the chip deke are near impossible to use because you separate yourself from the puck but the player is holding down the check button and either blocks the puck being chipped with his body while animating to hit you or is tracking your guy with ease thanks to the assist. I just felt with the change, dangling became more usable and punishing to those caught out of position trying to check me.

Detach Charge Hiting immediately. But immediately. Are you kidding normal NHL players? If the players don't know how to defend in the game, let them learn, but this is absolute *. So patch quickly and detach charge hit immediately!!!
