- BabyPuncher5252 years agoRising Vanguard@EA_Aljo The wind up is not natural when you've been able to directionally aim hits for over the last decade which was far more intuitive, this was such an unneeded change to skill stick that no one asked for.
I've posted a video in this thread showcasing a discrepancy with the wind up hitting on RS, care to comment? How accurately timed are we supposed to be? Is it possible ping discrepancies between competing players could be at play? I consider myself slightly above average at this game, get to platinum most seasons in 6v6 woc. How good do you have to be to have success with some of the defensive tools in this game? The clip I posted should result in some sort of hit or close out along the boards. I'm not the kind of player chasing hits but if I have positioning like in that clip I'm expecting to at least close that guy out on the boards even if a pass gets through me. - @phomi99 That's not entirely a hitting issue.
You shouldn't expect to knock down a Tom Wilson with regularity but you should still be able to impede his progress with the puck.
The real issue is that players are able to move unimpeded while maintaining puck control regardless of what you throw at them.
I don't care how big or strong you are, if you get hit there's a good chance you are being separated from the puck.
It's a body check. You are checking (as in disrupting) the progress of the body in order to dislodge the puck.
A stick check is checking the progress of the puck itself in order to dislodge it from the player.
When neither of those things works as intended, it creates a situation where we have to "make up" ways to generate those outcomes (like super powered checking).
Checking CAN work the way it was modified, but that also means modifying how easy it is for the puck carrier to maintain/regain possession.
The best players in the game still have to pass, deke, and deceive in order to progress with the puck. There's a reason individual efforts are highlight reels. It's because it is incredibly difficult to simply carry the puck straight to the net while shrugging off body contact and sticks.
Not in this game. - Treatmentworke662 years agoSeasoned Ace@EA_Aljo just like the puck flip, that a lot of people on here and on other platforms want to see return

Hitting needs to be normal and not like this ultimate hitting/tackling whit the stupid acceleration/speed boost!! So bad and not realistic.nobody enjoys playing this game if this continues..

@Jutila22I've never seen or ever have been shoulder tackled from behind, this game is an absolute joke and the total control is another joke ,guys can take full runs from across the ice and they hardly get charging penalties

@Treatmentworke66 wrote: guys can take full runs from across the ice and they hardly get charging penaltiesThis just isn't true.
@EA_Aljo wrote: When we make something more difficult and widen the skill gap, we get a lot of negative feedback. Poke checks causing too many penalties, having pre-made builds and making hitting less affective are a few examples. These were all very negatively received and ended up being changed.Obviously you're not the one making the decisions on the reversions, but I'd be interested to know why the hitting reversion happened so quickly as opposed to the others which tended to stick around for a few weeks at least.
@EA_Aljo wrote:I think we have a good balance now of pokes not causing too many penalties, but I'm very much not a fan of the slow down from it. I'm also not claiming that the game doesn't have arcade elements. I'd surely like to see those reduced as well. It would be good to see the carrier not have as high a success rate with picking up the puck after contact. I'd rather the puck be dislodged more so the defender has a better chance of gaining control. Defense could use a boost in general. At the same time though, it's a position that takes skill to play well. Good defenders are going to be able to defend against the puck carrier. Whether that's poke checks, hits or just good positional play, it all takes skill to succeed at. Yes. It's a challenge. Maybe too much. I'd certainly like it if that were balanced better without making either side overpowered.
This is the best answer from an EA employee anyone could really ask for.

@KidShowtime1867that puck flip is garbage, and yes guys take full runs at you using total control and hardly get charging penalties

Hitting needs to be balanced! Not like this ultimate fighting and hitting game,🤢speed boost/acceleration needs to be gone or lowered Down!
Nhl23 it was fine

I don't think there is a fix to this with the current hitting mechanics. I appreciate their efforts to add something new but a slow down or speed up in hitting is just ridiculous. It's a shame because when they removed the speed boost the gameplay feel was perfect but too bad it completely killed hitting.
