Huge Issue with Boarding calls

The amount of Shoulder on shoulder/Chest on Chest boarding calls this year is ridiculous.

This is happening almost every game to someone on the ice where the hit begins as a clean chest to chest hit near the boards and as the player falls he turns backwards and it ends up in a boarding penalty. These are never called penalties in the NHL and they never have been penalties in the game before until now.

Also please add an instigating penalty for initiating a fight after a big clean hit. You should not get a get out of jail free card because a player on your team got hit cleanly. Unbelievably frustrating when this feature kills an offensive zone chance ESPECIALLY during full pressure sequence. Please fix this asap.

    @HighTmatthew Just wanted to note that the player that is being hit doesn't even need to turn his back at the last second. Clean shoulder to shoulder hits, even shoulder to chest hits, are being called boardings.

    It seems the only determination EA is using here is proximity to the boards and not the direction the hit came from or what the primary point of contact is.

    @Pengman Yep you are totally right. I just got a clip of a chest on chest boarding a good 2-3 feet from the boards. Whatever is being used to determine these calls is totally busted in its current state.
  • @HighTmatthew They need to keep calling this to prevent people from exploiting the hitting system. You don’t see huge bone crunching hits all the time in nhl real life games because players would be kicked out for injuring other players. Try to not hit so much and that may solve your issue.

    @HighTmatthew

    Had a boarding penalty on a 100% legal hit too yesterday. I was simply backskating with my defense right in front of the puck carrier, the second after he break in I decided to land a hit because he was holding his skating line right at me... he went down toward the blue line....he wasnt even that close of the board and neither went flying toward it.....and then I got called for boarding.

    Thought it was an elbowing, it was the only possible penalty I could get ...but nope, Boarding.

    Whats weird is that my hit on the opponent was EXACTLY at the same spot as in your clip. The only difference is my hit wasnt toward the board at all.

    I wish I had cliped it now... The good news is it's the only time I've seen this so far.

    @TasteofChicago91 LOL ARE YOU JOKING. Because I am actually good at hitting and can time it I should be punished? No they don't need to keep calling penalties that are not penalties. The player here hit the ice and slid into the boards thats not a penalty thats a broken system for calling them

    @Tigidooh Yeah they are wildly inconsistent this year. There are times where you can absolutely drill someone into the boards shoulder on shoulder then 1/4 times they call it a penalty
