He'll have to play his first NHL shift in order to be added to the roster.
Connor Bedard is in the game playing for Regina in the WHL.
There really shouldn’t be any reason EA can’t assign players from this years draft to their teams when the players are already in the game.
At least he is on Chicago for Franchise Mode.
In previous games they wait about a week after the season starts to update the rosters.

The reason: The NHLPA.

Reason is EA. The NHLPA is why they can’t add players who aren’t in the game, but EA is the reason the rosters aren’t up to date.
He’s a part of the Blackhawks when you start a franchise mode and previous versions of the game have had drafted players at launch even before the regular season started.- Hester1472 years agoSeasoned Vanguard@Beauts90 There’s a lot to criticize EA, but this is the standard procedure for all sport titles. Typically a week or so after all teams have played a few games; the rosters are updated, and players who have played their first shifts are allowed to be represented in game

Release a damn roster update already, EA. We are a week into the NHL season now and the "current" downloadable roster was released on September 28th ffs...
